Check Fuel Cap Message
I getting a "check fuel cap" message when I start my car. So the first time it happened I checked it and looked fine. Then I also took the cap off and put it back on. But when I turn on my car I still get the message. Any ideas?

I have had that happen twice. I have only had the car since August and I have put 12K on it. I followed the manual which says to take the cap off and tighten it again and/or wait until next fuel up. You can just press the button in the guage cluster to make the message go away each time it comes up.

I make it click a bunch of times I fill up.

Today is day 2 for me hopefully it'll go away.

this message can come on for 3 reasons..
1. Key on Engine off while filling up
2. Gas cap not tightened to 3 clicks or more
3. Very small evap leak
if its for reasons 1 or 2 it will go away on its own after no longer than a week of driving, as posted. if it stays on longer than that i would take it in to get checked out.

When it happened to me, the light came on 2 days after filling up while I was driving on the highway. It wasn't from #1 or #2. It has never happened again. What do you think happened?

hard to say.. the ecu probably detected an intermittent failure and just corrected itself. When the message comes on with the wingman of the yellow monster, then you should be concerned. 90% of the time its from the first 2 reasons mentioned.

Same thing happened to me about three weeks ago. The fuel cap was a little loose and the message went away in about two days. Now it came on again and everythign is nice and tight. It has been about 4 days so if it is not gone by this weekend it is off to the dealership for a warranty repaif on my 06' accord.
