Did you seat the snap ring properly? A lot of times you need to flip the transmission upside down (bell facing up) and gently tap the transmission against the floor/bench to seat the snap ring.

no the snap ring is there but i didn't snap into back into the groove yet my transmission is cable shift idk is that makes a difference i had to take out this shifter piece out so i can remove the case i put the case back on i put this piece back in & theres no neutral theres 2 cables on this trans so if i take one of them off i can shift 1 through 5th gear also had reverse but couldnt figure out neutral it was almost like this piece was stuck i didnt want to push it too hard and break anything ?

You need to snap that ring back into place. That's part of the shaft alignment. You're probably binding because the shaft isn't seated properly.

What exactly do you mean by "don't have neutral"? Like, when shifting from 1-2 it doesn't seem like it goes into gear? The shifter just moves all over the place freely?

It honestly sounds like you didn't put the forks back in correctly.

THERE IS YOUR ISSUE! You didn't set the selector in properly.

Google "Honda crv fsm" . The website is scribd.com. You will find installation step by step with pictures in section 13 page 71, i.e. 13-71. That's about as much help as youre going to get without me being there handing you tools.

resealing won't help with your situation. Gear selector cable is probably off.
