What to do, What to do?
ok here's the deal: I 'm debating on what to do to my road /race CRX Si
currently JRSC 6psi kit, usual bolt ons, full suspension
a: should I rebuild current d16a to handle more boost. (pistons, rods, & valvetrain)
b: b18c1 all motor swap
prices: 2-3k for rebuild on motor
4k or so for all motor swap
rebuilt motor withe JRSC @ 10psi should get 200 whp with good torque
all motor b18c1 with Type R cams, ecu tuning, ys1 lsd tranny whp?
give me your opinions H-T brotha's !!!

Re: What to do, What to do? (APEX CRX)
I'd either go with the current d screamer. Build it to the top.
or
all motor b18c1 w/type r cams, ecu tuning, ys1 lsd
I don't know which is more important for road/race? or auto-x?
auto-x= a serious d series
road racing=a serious bseries
why not force feed a b series?
It sounds to me you already know about sc and stuff, so just go dohc and sc....

since this is for a road race car I would suggest rebuilding for boost. The supercharger will obviously create a good amount of torque & a pretty linear power band + you are already 1/2 way there.

i say yes to everything dj sandoz said except the tech. part, i was taking a nap in school when we talked about that subject and have no clue on what he just said, but im a d series guy, your already half way there you have the essentials as in motor and sc, just need better internals and your ready to tear it up

The B18 would last longer all motor than the D series boosted. *speaking in terms of building up to the same hp*. You would have to boost the D more to make the same power as the B18.... And even if the engine is built right, boost will tear down an engine faster than without it. But then again, the D16's are tough. Very tough.
Here I go on the soap box.... The D16 is also built for your car, the B18 is slightly heavier and won't be able to turn as well as the D16... My ideas of 'how long an engine can last' are a bit extreme, I always assume they will break under any stress.... I personally would do the D16 SC, because going with the B, you'd have to start all over again... Plus I don't have enough money to get the B....

thanks for all the input, I decided to go with my d series, I'll be upping the boost to MINIMUM 10 psi. more than likely more as more is never enough. I'll be redoing everything from oil pan up. I'll post up pics of rebuillding process and of course final product. My goal is 200 reliable whp.
I pretty sure my CRX will be one of the baddest track cars around when I'm done. Of course some late night canyon runs will be used for "tuning" keep you all posted.

Re: (APEX CRX)
That sounds like a way good option! This way your front end will be nice and light (like it's supposed to be), and you'll have excellent low-end grunt with the S/C. What are your current plans for F/I fuel managment?
