Contact the DMV with your registration and insurance information and get them to re-print it. It might cost a few dollars. Here in Nevada specifically, it cost me $150 to do just that. Be patient as well, it can take several weeks to be mailed to you.

It can be done, just be patient and contact your states DMV and find out what the procedure is. I know Cali can be a PITA when it comes down to ANYTHING regarding DMV and CHP, but patience and a little creativity will take you a long way.

i ran into a similar problem when i bought a car off a fellow H-Ter...when i picked up the car he said he didnt have the pink slip with him and that i could pick it up on monday...he ended up never giving me the pink slip and the dmv wanted a bill of sale from the original owner of the car all the way to me...i found out a little too late that i was the fifth owner of the car and all that backtracking was gonna be hell...too bad i crashed the car before it even got transfered in my name....make a long story short...never buy a car without the pinkslip

hell, forget the track car idea. Sell the beast for parts.
The sum of the parts do not always add up to the total cost of the whole. Sell the little itty bittys and make some cash, and then sell the shell for the track. Most folks that want track cars don't care about interior or trim.
