Alright, so last night I changed my front brake pads on my car. Started with the driver side and I loosened the caliper and lifted it up easily and the pads slid in and I had the caliper back down in about 10 minutes. No problems. Got to the passenger side loosened the bolt on the bottom and then it took a while to get the caliper up. We hit at it with a hammer for about 5 minutes and got the old pads out. Put the new pads in and started to slide the caliper back down and it was rubbing against the pads to the point where it knocked it out of place. We had the loosen the rotor and wickle it around just to get the pads to sit properly and not move out of place. Finished that, went for a drive and now my passenger side is pretty much riding the brakes. Do I need a new caliper or is it something else?? Also we did use a c-clamp and pushed the caliper piston back in all the way before we put the caliper back down.

EDIT: Also my friend mentioned I didn't take the brake master cylinder cap off and it pretty much blew the seal on the calipers. Is this true??

how is the passanger side siezed but still rides the brakes? that makes no sense. just goto autozone and get a rebuild kit for like 13 dollars, put it in and be happy. and no leaving the cap on will not blow the seals your friend is an idiot

if it did not move freely that was your big hint. you must also remove the caliper from the pins that the caliper slides on and lube them with silicone grease. this is outlined in the manual for brake install.

You need a hone if your gonna rebulid the caliper. Why not just replace both with loaded calipers?

Fine sandpaper I can understand but a High speed rotary tool??

i had to replace the passenger side caliper for the same reason. the piston had seized in the bore and when i pressed the brake pedal the caliper didn't release. i just went to napa and bought a new caliper. just 2 bolts and you r problem is solved. also, i have been told that the hose can calapse inside and cause the same thing. never actually seen that happen though. how is the dust seal around the piston? if its torn, buy a new caliper.
