Default Help! Finding TDC on B16A3 in 88 crx...questions and how to turn the damn crank???

ok well since i've got my car back from the shop about 2 weeks ago its been nothing but hell. i just replaced my knock sensor and now the car is running like ****. the idle is horrible...sitting around 200 or so rpms. i checked the timing and all the timing marks on the crank pulley are to the right of the pointer, as if it was 180 degrees backwards or something? i've searched and i need to know how can i turn the damn crank pulley or just turn it over because the b16 is a tight squeeze and i can't fit a socket over the crank pulley bolt to turn it. can i just turn it near the cam gears? oh and which way should i turn it? i heard if you turn it the wrong way it could throw the timing belt off a tooth or something? say i'm standing on the drivers side leaning over the car from the left fender...i turn it clockwise, like pulling it towards the back on the car? well yeah...to set it back to TDC...i would just crank it over til i see the single white line on the crank pulley line up with the mark on the timing belt cover right? and also pull out the #1 spark plug to see if the piston is all the way up? what about the cam gears? i heard there is arrows that have to point up? so will i have to remove my valve cover to see this? ok well thanks for any help.....

if it was 180 degrees off it would not start at all... take all the plugs out, take off the dizzy cap, and the valve cover... put your thumb in the number one spark plug hole... turn the crank counterclockwise from the front of the car via the cam gear until you feel compression starting to push your finger out... then line up the marks on the cam gear... there is an up mark which should face up... there are also 2 marks on the sides of the gear that should be in line with the head... once you get these lined up see where the pointer is on the crank pulley... they should all be lined up at this point... then check the rotor and make sure its pointing to the number one spark plug wire on the cap... also you should reset your idle and adjust the valves... then you should be all set

if the slack is on the side nearest the front of the car, loosen the tensioner but DONT take it off... then rotate the crank 1/4 turn the same way as i described before... this should put tension on that side of the belt... tighten the tensioner back up and you should be set ... just to be sure, turn the crank a few turns and make sure it stays tight and doesnt have any trouble turning
