Re: Fan problem?
Not thermostat. thermostat has no electrical connections.
You say the fan NEVER turns off. How do you deal with this? Do you disconnect the battery when you leave the car? If so, what happens when you reconnect the battery - does the fan instantly come on? Have you ever left the fan running to see if it eventually stops (obviously before the battery dies)?
I'm thiking bad fan relay, thermo switch, or ignition switch. Inconclusive though for lack of information for how you deal with the problem.

i pull the negative cable off the battery and when its plugged back in it turns right back on, i left my battery connected for about an hour with a charger hooked up and still never stopped

Re: Fan problem?
Sounds like relay not letting of power connection
.
Might be ignition switch, but I think you would see other things staying on as well if that were the problem.

Re: Fan problem?
what type of car is it? with some cars the ac and fan relays are the same. try switching them and see if that solves the problem. check numbers first. if your fan shuts off theres your problem.

Re: Fan problem?
Temp sensor connection might be loose on the engine. It's one wire that is found under the distributor. With the key in the on position, you shoudl be able to take this wire and short it to ground (make metal to metal contact with the engine someplace should be fine) and the temp gauge should pin itself at HOT. If not, then there is most likely something wrong with the wiring or gauge. If it does read HOT then clean up the connection on the sensor and make sure it's a tight connection.
