ecu codes
alright, i just did a head gasket on my stock 89 si crx. now it throws a code but i don't know have a scanner.... someone told me about grounding out the plug and the check engine light will flash....i don't know where this plug is but my ecu is flashing 17 tims...i read about this vss thing but i can't get the idea am i on the right track and what can i do?

you don't need a scanner. that's what the flashing light is for. code 17 is the vss which is the vehicle speed sensor. i don't see how changing out the head gasket would affect the vss. it's a black cable that comes out of the firewall at an angle and goes into the trans. by the mount. you might have knocked it loose. grounding out the plug to get the cel to flash is the diagnostic procedure for eg's.

just pull out the fuse marked HAZARD in the engine fuse box. wait 20 seconds and replace it. VSS comes on like 3 times a year in my car. only when it's REALLY hot outside and im decelerating in 4th. odd, but true.

HA HA yeah I understand I do the same cuz I'm surrounded by idiots asking idiotic questions at work so I gotta klash out when I see the same to on HT
