Cel code 0, jumping tach, clicking relay, no spark, intermittent problems. Please Help
Im trying not to make any stupid topics or posts, but I searched a ton and I cant seem to figure this **** out.
Symtoms:
- Car starts, drives and runs great for 10 mins or so, then the cel comes on, then after I turn the car off, it wont re-start. Then after an hour or so, it will start just fine for 10 mins and the problem just repeats.
- So i put the key to the on position.. I can hear the fuel pump prime, the cel turns off after a few seconds and the main relay clicks just like normal.
- Then I try to start it... it turns over fine but wont start (although sometimes the starter will just cut out randomly when Im cranking it)... then the main relay clicks 5-10 times really fast and the tachometer starts jumping from like 1000-3000 sporadically.
- When I jump the service connector, the cel goes away (no blinking and not solid) and when I unjump it, the cel comes back on From what ive read, this is code 0 - ecm?
Things Ive tried so far...
- Replaced ecu with working one... same problems, same code 0, etc..
- Checked for batt voltage at ecu pin A25. Check
- Replaced main relay and resoldered joints on old one.. still nothing
- Checked all fuses, ecu, alt sp, etc. They were all fine and I slightly bent the prongs on them to ensure good connection in the fuse box.
- I replaced the ignitor inside the distributor, still nothing
- T-stat, tranny, and valve cover grounds are all good. I triple checked these
There has to be something im missing, especially to do with the code 0 and jumping tachometer. Could it have anything to do with the vss or a crank position sensor??
The engine is a a stock h22 in a 90 crx, it was running fine for a few days until now.

Update: I think i might have figured it out. I tried jumping the cel connector again, and it was not code 0... it was code 8 (TDC sensor). The lamp was barely lighting up so I couldn't see it blinking in the daytime.
I think the TDC sensor going bad might explain my problems. So Im gonna rip apart the dizzy and see if I can replace it.
I hope this can help others in the future!
