Icon2 1991 civic DX hb cold start problems

Hey everyone I have no clue whats going on with my civic. its a 1991 civic hatchback dx automatic.

I first bought the car with a ripping timing belt so i replaced it and drives excellent. but throughout the past months the car started to have trouble starting in the mornings. after about 3 attempts to start it, it would finally start and run fine and also when the engine is warmed up and i turn it off, it starts up fine (while the engine is still hot).

Also on the cold start (once it finally does start) when im driving around 30 mph and sometimes at 45 mph there seems to be a fuel cut or something.

I'm not sure what it could be.
Maybe the timing belt jumped a tooth?
Maybe the coil pack/ distributor is going bad?

someboooooooooodddeeeeee halp!

Check the AICV -air idle control valve
its basically the electronic choke that is enabled when the engine is not at operating
temp it works off of coolant temp make sure you have a full amount of coolant so it gets a good reading.
when your motor is cold or not at operating temp the aicv should choke the rpms up to 3k or 2,500 something.

It is located around the throttle body and it has a plug with two wires and two hoses a feed and return. It also keeps the Throttle body at operating temp so it does not get stuck or frozen opened while your engine is rev'ed up.

and if thats not the problem. Do a tune up make sure you have good gas, good voltages good grounds. Good fuel filter, Etc Check you Codes that you could be throwing and that
will lead you to the problem.
