AT transmission slips!
I'm having transmission issues with my 92 Civic w/automatic tranny. If i drive it regularly then it's fine, but when you try to accelerate or floor the gas then the rpm just climbs. The manual said to check for low fluid but I've already done that and the fluid is within specs. Anyone ever delt with this kind of thing on an automatic transmission before? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

When my AT tranny started to slip, it went soon after. I would just not getting on your car if it's starting to slip.

It doesn't slip unless i give it more than 1/2 throttle.

Haven't tried either of those yet...But the filter is in a hard to get place. You have to basicly take the whole tranny apart just the replace the filter.

Re: (D16Z6_turbo)
For example, if i give it 3/4 throttle from a stop sign then the car will go untill it tries the change into 2nd gear. That's when the gear doesn't engage and the rpm's just climb unless I ease off the gas pedal.

Re: (D16Z6_turbo)
I'm having the same problem. except mine slips going into 3rd. I've swapped the fluid once already. It worked almost perfect for a day, then it creeped back to normal. However now the car shifts to 3rd much later. it'll take second all the way up to 50 on it's own. kinda loud. more often than not if the car is coasting freely. (like downhill) the tranny slips like it's not touching anything at all. I'm pretty fed up with it, everyone telles me just to get a new tranny.

Re: (bass_solo)
I would recommend flushing the tranny out and switchin some new fluid in. Theres a whole thread on how to do it here if you wanna do-it-yourself.
