Is there any kind of "goop" i can use to repair torn bushings???
And by "goop" I mean like silicon caulking or more like like polyurethane caulking. The reason why I asked is because my trailing arm bushings are torn on my 97 civic ex coupe and i decided to check my motor mounts too just in case. Thats when i noticed that my motor mounts dont have the regular polyurethane inserts. Where the insert would be, I found, was filled with some rubbery white-ish stuff (and filled very liberally) that looks like it may have been applied with a caulking gun and and dried into strong polyurethane liquid bushing; kinda like Ultra Grey liquid gaskets. I know some one knows what I'm talking about but i dont know what it called and when i went to the store no one knew what i was talking about... let alone what a trailing arm was. Any help or other suggestions is appreciated.

How does that work for them and which mounts do they use them in? The motor mounts?
Its really not but I'm trying to find a cheaper and quicker solution. Its not like i race, I daily drive. Unless you have a really really GOOD reason, personal experience perhaps, that i shouldn't be doing this, then i wont.

Bushings are cheap... Do it right the first time and you wont regret it... Filling in the rips with silicone will not bond with the rubber for ****.

I wouldn't trust any "goop" on any bushing. Polyurethane bushings are gonna be easier to find though they will be more expensive. I like finding stock ones at the junker, Plenty of mounts and bushings are still good and they're cheaper to buy.

I think so, Ive often seen motor mounts filled with a paste like that. I think it would be a good temporary fix, obv it wont fix the bushing you know, but it should improve it. PM SHG_EasyE if you have anymore questions

yeah it would work juss to look better then rotted look.. but no if you want it to have proper use.. its still goin to be rotted under all that goop that you think mite work.... i bet it would fall apart in the 1st 50 miles.........it cost me like $72 yuks for a pair of trailing arm bushings from hondapartsnow.com shipped to FL.... part #52385-S21-003 RR TRAILING ARM BUSH
if that helps ya,,, pluss you'll have to get yours pressed out and repressed in... btw,, but nothing difficult if you like to do things properly...

So i found this link to another Honda forum and it goes into greater detail the types of urethane that people use as motor mounts. It comes with a hardness chart and input from many others who have tried the same thing and so far, it all looks promising.
It seems that thins guy used a urethane, slightly stronger than 3m windshield adhesive, but motor mount are harder, i think, than trailing arm bushings (please correct me if I'm wrong) so I think that the 3m windshield urethane might me perfect.
Anyways, heres the link to the other Honda forumhttp://www.superhonda.com/forum/f94/...mounts-204274/

Used 3M Utrethane windo-weld. Worked out really well, and I didnt even have to disassemble much, let alone press any bushings.

just get new ones, if you don't have a press, hammer the old ones out, just tap the edges till its out, and then what i did, is cut out the bushing out of the old one so i have something to put over the new one to press it in with

I could possibly see this as a temporary fix, though I'd be particuarlly uneasy about using it on suspension.
Getting my CRX's trailing arm bushings replaced in eight hours. $63 for two from Honda. Same part number as CRV and they had them in stock.
