everytime i start my car, no matter if its hot or cold, it always jumps beyond the H mark. anyone know what the problem could be? could it be a defective gauge cluster(Stock)? the coolant in the overflow is full, coolant in radiator is full, the fans work, still dunno wtf is going on.

Did you recently move around your dash or try to do anything to your gauge cluster?? Sound slike maybe it is defective, but it is hard to tell...

yea i just removed the cluster to put in some amber bulbs. i've taken my cluster out like 4 other times. so u think its a defective cluster?

Yea, sounds like maybe something got moved when you took it out...that happens really easily. I would try to borrow a gauge cluster from someone you know and see if it is ok with another one...I'm sure it is just that cluster if it goes all of the way above the H...Overheating wouldn't spike up like that and stay there...Hope you get it figured out man

if you dont feel like trying to find the defect just get a pyro meter i think there kinda costly though. good luck

what other problems do u guys think it can be besides the cluster? could it be the thermostat or sending unit?

you probably messed it up doing the amber lights.

it could be a sensor. the thermostat doesn't do anything except open and close. I think there is a thermosensor(?) or something like that, and it checks the engines temp when u start the car up..

Are you having trouble starting at all? Because if the sensor thinks the motor is really that hot, it'll have trouble starting because it wont give it as much juice as it does when its a cold start. Does it idle low when it starts cold ?
