Mobile 1 Oil filter Unusual Leak? QUICK HELP??
So I did an oil change on my LS/Vtech and went to Autozone. They had a special for 5 quarts of Mobile One Extended and Mobile one filter. I figured why not since it was a decent deal. I usually use Royal Purp. and Fram, but decided this time to go with something different.
Did all the usual and let my friend tighten the filter on. Turn on the car...getting no pressure from the oil gauge. About 40 seconds go by and i hear a gurgling sound. I knew it was the filter. Turned off the engine and looked at the filter...oil everywhere. checked the dipstick and there was none in there.
Went to Autozone got another 2 quarts for free and tried again. This time i tightened the filter on tighter (but i didn't remove and reinstall and only hand tightened, though it seemed fairly tight) Kept a close eye on the filter and told him to start it up. 4 seconds in, it begins to leak!!! I'm almost positive I got the right filter (M1-104) and never had problems before with the oil filter as an issue. Mobile 1 filters suck or am I totally overseeing something?

Look at the old filter, I bet its missing the o-ring and it stuck to the block and now the new filter is double o-ringed honda even sent out a service bulletin for this phenomenon. It is very common, you should beat your friend in the head with the filter if he did indeed forget to get the old o-ring off

no he oiled it. I might just go back to gettting a Fram filter. I wouldn't wait 15k miles to change my oil anyway. I read on another forum that Mobile 1 filters leak, so that might be my justification to going back to FRAM.
