Default IACV troubleshooting.

b16a gen 2 engine

So i have two (2) IACV's one reads 10 ohms the other read 11 ohms.

from what i understand these are both within spec.

when installed and running on the car blocking off the top port in the TB for the IACV.

the idle calms down, i dont fully understand what this means, is the IACV bad or good?

should the idle when this port is blocked off stall the engine out?

Does your TB have an attached FITV?

Yes it does, I have taken this off, cleaned it, and reset the plunger/piston inside.

after that, once engine has warmed up I have plugged the Bottom port to the fitv off with my finger and there is no suction, so i feel it is safe to eliminate that as a vacuum or problem in general

Describe the idle problem.

What CEL codes are thrown?

It should idle @ 600-750 with the iacv blocked manually. If blocking the iacv manually stops the idle surge and the coolant is bled properly then it is a bad IACV.

There are also other possibilities.

well i have made 2 other threads about this and over 200 views and no one seems to be responding to it.

I am asking and trying to figure this out, rather then in ignorance spend 300$ on a eacv from honda hoping it will fix the problem before i know it is the cause.

there is a huge list of what i have done.

for the sake of this thread ill copy and paste over the answers.

PLEASE READ IT THROUGH!

(this is the thread for refernce:

car idles cold fine

car kind of idles on warm fine but has two issues, once throttle is slightly opened and closed ( well, percentage from 1% to W.O.T) once throttle is closed again engien will hunt between 1000rpm and 1500rpm for some where between 30-60 seconds then calm back down to about 800rpm

now i noticed if i turn the car on, let warm up from idle, every single time the fan kicks on the engine begins to idle erratic again (1000-1500 rpm) until the fan kicks off.

what i have doen so far:

There is NO CEL!
cleaned fitv
cleaned eacv
checked vacuum lines
cleaned throttle body & replaced gaskets
coolant flush
checked ign. timing.
checked coolant temp sensor ((286 ohm) on after 3 fan activations so obviously the engine is to temp.)
Did a tps test, .48 closed, 4.53 WOT

-cold idle is fine. engine warms up, rad fan kicks on and idle starts hunting.
fan stop's idle calms down or stays hunting. The point is, the engine hunt's roughly when the engine is warm.

-1% or more throttle, idle hunts.

- when engine is hunting i plug the eacv port in the TB, idle comes down, hunting stops.
the car does NOT die. does this means the eacv is working correctly or not? I thought it meant it does and it does not if the engine dies?

OR should the engine die when i plug off the eavc port in the TB? even when i disconnect the electrical plug from the eacv the idle calms down.

this is the second eacv i have replaced on it, im gonna try and get another one because i have no idea.

took off the fitv to check the plunger for vacuum leaks it was ever so slightly turned out like maybe 1/8th of being fully seated so i screwed it fully in to seat. re-installed.

still hunting

Your error was making 2 threads on the same topic, with the current one being incomplete. That's not allowed. For the sake of the forum, please follow the rules.

ok well thnx for the ridicule. I know the rules, the last thread was diagnosing an idle issue, this one is diagnosing the iacv at hand not a general idle problem. as for as technicalities go i dont think what i did was wrong even after understanding the rules.
2 different threads for different topics

1: general idle issue

2. Iacv specific issue.

but i don't care. that other thred is closed you did what you did.
what bothers me is you posting about this small thred error and not helping me with the OP problem at hand.

like come on, i am asking for help and my question has not been answered. every post i search for via H-T and google comes up with outdated, unanswered threds usually with pictures that have been removed.

i dont get why i cannot get some help with this especially from such an active Mod and what i thought was such a wide active forum site with knowledgeable people?

if what i did was soooooooo bad then sry i made a mistake being aware of what i was doing because i thought i was obeying the rules i am not perfect so i officially apologize. is it so hard to give me some help??

Now: MAY I PLEASE KINDLY GET SOME HELP??

Posting in this forum is a privilege, not a right. Your entitlement attitude must go. There are forum rules. If you don't follow them, then there are consequences.
