>>> Exhaust Question
I have 2.5" piping to an N1 muffler and its can of loud and raspy. The cat converter is gutted and it has no resonator. I was wondering how can I make it more quiet, should I put a regular cat or get a resonator or a high flow cat? Also whats the difference between high flow cat and resonator?

resonator's sole purpose is for sound..
High Flow Cat.. just let's more "exhaust flow" go threw
I don't know why you gutted your cat?
I say get High Flow Cat.. 1st.. for sound and environment, then if that's not enough a resonator

get rid of the can and add a stock cat will be the best way. if you want to add some "glass pack" style resonators that will help too.

Re: >>> Exhaust Question (93egSLEEPER)
The cat was gutted because the exhaust used to be on a boosted civic.
I've seen videos of civics with out resonators and then with resonator and the sound was alot cleaner with resonator.

I don't really know of any N1 style exhaust that is quiet. A resonator will help deepen the tone of the exhaust and not make it as raspy. You could say that would make it "quiter" to a certain extent but not much. If you want quiet, your best bet is to invest in a new exhaust system (such as the world sport series ) or look around for an OEM ITR exhaust which works well too.

Its a deep loud tone, sometimes it makes the car rattle a bit, its not like a rice loud.
I'll see if I can get a video clip of it tommorow.

That would help some. Like I said, if you're really not pleased with it, its going to be more of a headache trying to make an N1 style exhaust quiet than just investing in a new exhaust. Post the video clip and we can try to give you some better feedback.

Get a resonator and a high flow cat. Simple as that. Then if you don't like the sound then it's time to change your muffler.

Re: >>> Exhaust Question (devney)
I cut the honda resonator from the stock pipes, I dont know if there is a difference between other resonators.... and if you look on ebay for resonators they keep showing hi flow cats.

well since your in raleigh, why dont you go down to henry's muffler shop on capital blvd. and have him put a resonator (glasspack) on your exhaust, and then order one of the resonator pipes that replace the cat and bolt it on. that should help alot.

Re: (JSPECSIR)
how much would they charge? I was going to buy a welder and weld it myself so I was looking to get just the cat or resonator.
JSPECSIR have you done this to a similar exhaust setup?
