Driver Door Not Locking
1998 Civic EX Coupe. A/T, 150k miles
No FOB (key-less remote) with car. Key will not lock door driver's from outside. Key does lock/unlock passenger door from outside. While inside the car the power door lock switch locks/unlocks passenger side and moves the plastic lever (near door handle) however, does not lock/unlock driver door.
Is the a driver door actuator issue or door lock control unit issue or other?

a swing and a miss. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...ock%20actuator
After-markets = RockAuto Parts Catalog[ID]=0&ck[idlist]=0&ck[viewcurrency]=USD&ck[PHP_SESSION_ID]=p2nf75edipphtg6nu1s2j05vi0
Junkyard = pocket change, as in it's in my pocket when I leave.
Free?..must be good ..lol
JK.. I'd pay for it so I know I can return if it doesn't work. Probably $5 to 10 at local junkyard and most likely an (used) OEM..which is most likely better than a new Dorman... or DO-R-again-MAN as it will fail within 6 months..lol

that was the problem on mine even though it would lock both doors from inside..
btw Sorry bout that.. there are certain technical terms which i dont know to pronounciate in english..

Re: Driver Door Not Locking
I removed the actuator and it worked in both directions using the door lock switch. However, it was squealing a bit and when I held slight pressure on the moving plastic part it failed. Let pressure off and it still wouldn't work. Called local LKQ junkyard and they want $22 (their getting expensive) so, I am ordering a new OEM ($43) from hondapartsnow
So as it sits now the actuator is completely removed. I tried locking it from inside and out and neither would work .. is that to be expected?

Re: Driver Door Not Locking
Pulled a used one from another junk yard ($15..90 day warranty) which works well when I tested it while not attached to door latch assembly. Tried several times to get the arm connected to the peg as shown in the video below at the 2:50 mark and past. My latch assembly and actuator is slightly different the one in the video.. but, I can feel a post however, i just can get the hole in the arm lined up with that peg.
I also have a feeling the door latch mechanism itself maybe be broken but, I won't know until I get the actuator mounted right. Should it be this difficult to line up the actuator arm hole to the latch peg
Could the blue central door lock module cause any of this?

Re: Driver Door Not Locking
Someone/Anyone that has installed one a 6th gen coupe please respond. I thought actuators are a fairly common issue. There's some youtubes and tutorials but, mostly for 7th gen 4-doors.

You'll need to make room by removing the door panels, unhooking the connecting rods, unscrew 3 screws and disconnnect any electrical connectors.
Its best to do a visual of what needs to be done before the install date. That way you have a clear image of what could be an obstacle and report back here. Take pics.

Re: Driver Door Not Locking
Got er' dicked.
There is definitely a post the actuator arm connects to..just like in the video. I tried several times to slide in but, couldn't get the post/arm hole to line up. Ended up removing the latch entirely (door handle not removed). Once the latch was completely out it was easy to line up the actuator's arm hole to the plastic post that locks/unlocks the latch. Synthetic greased moving parts, put it back together, and it's working well.
The video below shows how to remove the two rods that attach the to the outside door handle. If I encounter an actuator issue again I will remove the latch and actuator as one unit as it makes it easier to align actuator to latch.
Thanks everyone for your replies.
