Cigarette Lighter Problem- Involving a fuse?
I have a 1999 Civic and I cannot get my cigarette lighter to work. I want to run a FM transmitter for my ipod and there is no power going to the lighter. It's a used car and hasn't worked since I bought it. Any solutions? Is this a fuse problem? And if so, can the fuse be replaced? The fuse box diagram is taken out; so I don't know which one to replace! Thanks for the help..

Bump-Also I replaced my head unit when I bought my car. Is it possible the wires got mixed up and that's the reason the outlet doesn't work anymore?

i don't know which one but it won't take long to look though them all see if any are blown..you may have to replace the CL itself, also check the wires and check for power

its usually a fuse problem...wut u can do since u dont have the fuse cover is to pull the fuses out one-by-one and check to see if its blown...alot of cars come to our dealership wut a cig. lighter inop and all the time its a fuse...if all the fuses are good, then its something else

Re: (kturner2007)
Mine doesn't have one of those fuse covers either, it's a bitch! Sorry I can't help you on that one, but if it isn't a fuse, I would check the wiring. Mine didn't work for the longest time, but this summer I had the dash pulled apart and found that the ground wire for the lighter had been cut in like 3 different places! WTF?

i have the same problem in my 1992 civic cx hatchback. The cigarette lighter fuse is the same fuse for the radio and the ash tray light. My radio works perfectly fine and so does my light for the ash tray. Its just my cigarette lighter that doesnt work. I replaced the cigarette lighter with one that does work and it still doesnt work. So im guessing i cut a wire when doing my radio. Since the cigarette lighter is connected to the ash tray light. That means that the ash tray has power and ground. The ash tray and the cigarette lighter use the same ground so i think its the power wire for the cigarette lighter.
