can 6x9 speakers fit in the rear of a del sol?
i tried posting in the audio section, but no one seems to visit that section and i got no answers. im just going to post in the del sol forum to see if anyone can shed some light and hopefully i can get a good answer. i just bought a 93 del sol si. the previous owner had 6x5's in the back. they are no name speakers that are only 150W. there are also 6x5's in the front. there is an aftermarket faceplate. can i replace the 6x5's in the rear with sony Xplod 6x9's? im looking for more bass and better sound. the way it is now, there is literally almost no bass. here are some pics of the currect rear set-up...
is it possible for 6x9's to fit back there? or is it only suitable for 6x5's? im just looking for good bass without subs. thanks.

I don't own a sol so I can't help you there but everything I've heard about the XPLODs is if you didn't already buy em don't they live up to their name and I've personally seen two speakers and an amp, all wired correctly BURN out not blow. Check at your local audio shop to see if they think it'll fit before everyone here flames you for this not being in the audio forum since nobody seems to be able to help there and look into pioneer, alpine, infinity something that will last

it might mount with Ah screw. maybe 2. if the speaker even fits in there. possibly customize your own bracket if your able to.

i own a 94 del sol and put rockford 5 and a quater all the way around.. then threw two 10 inch rockford subs with a 1000 watt amp.. behind the seats on the storage boxes only had to move the seats forward one-two clicks. and im 6 foot 4 and fit just fine..

You can do it. It'll take some custom work though. I thought about putting my Memphis 6x9's back there but decided to put them in my doors. I've don't have any speakers back there and i don't plan on putting any there. My door speakers are plenty loud for me. Plenty of bass for the front stage. With a sub I have all the bass i need. When you say 6x5, do you mean 6.5?

yea sorry i meant 6.5. i think i am probably just going to get some pioneer 6.5's and put them in the back to replace those horrible no namers that are in there now.
do most of ya'll only use front speakers? maybe ill just get a real good set and put them in the front.

most of your sound quality comes from the deck that is powering it. Looks to me like you could fit some shallow mount 6x9's. Personally I go with pioneer. Not too expensive and pretty good quality. If all you have is a shitty deck running any speakers, then all you'll get is shitty sound. I put a pioneer in my friends car and it had pioneer 6 1/2 up front and walmart's durabrand (or whatever it is) in the rear and it sounds pretty damn good for what money he spent on it. I suggest if you don't already have a decent deck, then to spend money on it first. Just my two cents.

not gonna lie, I do hate on sony pretty hard, but I've seen them start small fires inside of cars. Thank god they didn't spread, but my point is that despite the fact that this was a while ago and they may have changed something catching fire in my parcel shelf is going to have my attention for a while.

Re: (Remington)
dont even bothe with rear speakers...take them out. spend the money on a good set of 6.5" front speakers (NOT sony) and mount them with an mdf spacer.
