Bad Alternator: Causing Break Up/ Mis- fire
I was driving home on my new motor (50 miles on it) and it was pulling very nice and smooth until about five to ten minutes after I started. I then lost my tach/ speedo and eventually had a loss of power and a stalling feeling. I pulled into Advanced Auto luckily and it stalled the second I pulled in. Immediately I checked my oil, coolant level, every plug on my harness, all grounds and fuses. I had a feeling my alternator/ battery was going and saw a battery light flash before it stalled. The guy jumped me that worked there and it started instantly and was enough to get me home. I took out my alternator out and the bench test failed and the battery was holding a charge after it was charged. I have never experienced a battery dying causing bad mis- fires even though it makes sense considering the spark did not have enough power to jump the gap. Has anyone else experinced this?
My setup is:
B20b bottom end stock sleeves
9:1 Ross, Eagle combo
B16a SiR II fully built head
z6 engine harness
NGK plugs and wires gapped correctly

I'm also not surprised by the power loss and stalling caused by a bad alternator. So can we presume that replacing the alternator has fixed the problem?

dude u answered ur own question.. think about it, alternator cannot charge battery so engine is running off a battery as charge decreases so will engine performance as well as operation.
