99 Honda Civic DX dies while driving/stop
Hello Members of Honda-Tech,
I have a 1999 Honda Civic DX that has been having this problem for the last year or so. It first started when I was driving on a random day about a year ago and the engine just died on me. All the display lights would still be on, but when I tried to crank it over, nothing would happen. I had to have the car towed to my house and finally got it started by putting in a new distributor. The only problem is that it's throwing a code P1383, "Cylinder Position Sensor Noise." From which I understand is located inside the distributor.
On several occasions, the car would just randomly die. Driving in traffic and sometimes when the car is at idle. For me to get it started, I would have to jiggle the key a little bit for the display lights to turn on. Then, it will usually start right back up. If it doesn't, I just wait 3-5 minutes and it starts back up again.
There are also times when the RPMs fluctuate while I'm driving and then the car dies maybe 15-20 seconds after this happens. I've researched and some people have been saying that it may be due to a blown fuse under the dash.
I've also noticed that when it is hot outside, the car tends to have a lot harder of a time starting. I have to crank the car 3-5 times until it does start.
-For now, I'm going to check the fuses to see if anything is blown. I may also pick up a distributor to see if that's the problem this weekend. I'll update as often as I can.
If anyone has any input, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time and reading this.

I have had this same problem!!!
My problem was as follows ......... - Distributor , main relay, ecu, map sesnor (don't worry if car is not boosted)but check fuel pump if it is, then wire and sparks, last but not least the speedometer and any sensors assoceated with such.
once you and or machanice understand the flow of parts, then honda's are the most simple car to work on happy fixing!!
P.S My dizzy keeps burning up/out that was my problem, then i got a 1.5 from autozone and nvm too long....... Check that out step by sttep. write back when problem is found.!!!!
