92~95 civic sedan trunk overlay
Hi All!
I am building my ride and need your help in fixing out the following problem.
The carpet inside the trunk is divided into different pieces. I had have most of these pieces already only the part that is fixed towards the trunk lights was missing. So I bought one recently for my car. Following is the picture of this piece.
(please note the self locking tabs on the back side of the plastic trim panel)
This is the data stamp on the plastic trim panel
In the trunk
Problem: In the last few pictures you can see the bare trunk (without overlaid) has no holes for the tabs to get fixed-in.
The carpet piece along with the plastic panel belong to the EG civic as it can be confirmed from the date stamp shown above. Can some please help me how to fix this carpet piece along with this plastic panel in to the trunk.
Regards
Shabbir

Re: 92~95 civic sedan trunk overlay
In hatchback model the rear glass opens separately and the rear trunk which has got the latch at the top (not in its base) opens downward (in sedan the trunk open upwards). However it can be (still not sure) from the coupe. But I wonder coupes don't come in parts in this part of the world.
I have taken some more pics of this carpet piece while placing it in the trunk, just have a look at it, how perfectly it aligns with the curvature of the trunk and the holes there for the rear lights and also check the position of the striker in between, so it seems to be from the sedan. Remember one thing this is parted form a JDM ferio civic (sedan or coupe).

Re: 92~95 civic sedan trunk overlay
Here I got the reference pictures of the EG sedan...
In the last picture you can see the plastic trim panel, now tell me how to fix it with those 4 nos. locking tabs admitting the fact that there are no holes provided in the trunk.

I'll just throw this out there as a possibility. The car was wrecked in the rear at some point and after market parts ( missing the holes) were installed.

Well, I finally figured this out. It's been bugging me since I saw this thread. But, not being a Sedan expert, I never clued in.
However, I became an owner of a CDM EH9 recently, and while it had the fabric part that fits against the back side of the trunk, it was missing the plastic section. Lucked in to an EH9 donor car (rare as rockinghorse poo here) so picked up this piece ... lo and behold, on the EH9 there are holes in the lip along the metal where the trunk latches, to fit the mounting tabs. It was an EH9(and presumably EG9)-only feature. If you want to retrofit it properly into another 5G Sedan, you are going to have to drill holes.
