Default 200 hp single cam ALL ENGINE..........

sooooooooooooo i joined this site because i thought that a bunch of honda guys could have a civilized convo then all of the sudden some guy locks my post and I can't even get into it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well tell you what mr b18c5 whatever..... YOU don't know if it can be done or not and just popped in from nowhere in the middle of a convo.
My reply was it's my stock block going to 8100 and yes i know what i'm doing and what i'm talking about, i know the difference between the different horsepower measurements and i know that 72 horsepower is a jump but using a turbo is unneeded. PLUS if you read my entry you would see that my car IS tuned and if i were talking crank horsepower i would've never brought it up cause thats easier to achieve.
Maybe before you lock someones thread you should get in on the convo first and see whats up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

I'm only going to tell you this one more time:

FIND ME A 200WHP STREET-DRIVEN N/A D SERIES ENGINE AND POST LINKS/PICS/SPECS

You have until the next time I log on, which is probably tomorrow, to post this info, or else this topic gets locked like the other failure of a topic, AND if you decide to be a smart *** again and repost the same topic with no factual basis I will simply ban you for being stubborn.

I have been on this forum, in this 92-00 Civic forum specifically, for SEVEN YEARS and I've seen more lame-*** "SOHC vs. DOHC" topics than you can imagine.

Sadly enough this forum cannot handle an intelligent N/A SOHC build tpic to begin with (DOHC ***** bust in with "Why waste time on a SOHC yo?") but it makes matters far worse when the original poster (you) posts ridiculous claims of being able to leap from 128whp to 200whp without posting any factual, mechanical basis for such a huge lightyears leap in whp.

So show me something in good faith to let me know you're not one of the hundreds of pipe dreaming, know-nothing kids who talks up a huge game, but in the end wastes our time and webspace with e-trash "200whp N/A from 128whp" build topics with no real info provided.

BTW for anyone else reading this please don't help the guy find the info I'm looking for.

I'm not here to say what's possible/impossible - I just want to see where the original topic poster is coming from, and if he even knows what the hell he's even talking about.

Surely someone so nonchalant about a 200whp D series can tell me exactly how it is done, right?

BTW for anyone reading this topic that doesn't know me, I'll show you a few pics to prove that I love a good D series as much as the next guy:

Coded OE Honda bearings - not just some random "standard" bearings:

Lots of OE Honda Parts:

P29 +7.2cc domers:

These pics are from my D16A6 street build from oh, 5 years ago? I love the SOHC, but again I want to prevent the hundredth freaking random new guy with his "200whp D series" topics from cluttering the board.

I'll be logging off here soon - I hope that when I log back on you've got some sort of info for me on where the 200whp streetable (or semi-streetable?) D engines are, and exactly HOW YOU plan on achieving this lofty goal.

Well on topic for once:

I don't recall the exact quoting of the original post, but a single cam all motor is possible. I'm a big H/F fan and some of the F series motors were SOHC - I've seen them hit 200 all motor. I have NOT however seen a D get to 200 all motor.

On the flipside, bisimoto got his daily driven CRX (subs 'n all) with a D series motor in it to eat GSR's - he told me the exact HP he got (which I can't remember at this time). Though the HP # wasn't near 200 IIRC. You only need like 140-150 at the wheels in a CRX to take down a GSR swapped civic, which don't get me wrong, is a hell of a lot for a D series, but still daily driven.

I pretty much regard Bisimoto as the king of the N/A SOHC for his N/A SOHC records, but if he isn't hitting the #'s, then most likely people on the street aren't either.

EDIT:
PS: He told me that that CRX was his daily driver before he went for a full out CRX drag machine.

Well I'm back on, and I don't see any additional info from the OP.

Am I doing this guy a favor by leaving the topic open longer, or does that just prove my point further because it gives him longer to look like he doesn't know what he's talking about?

Last chance - I'm locking this one down if I'm near a PC later today.

I think it should be locked, maybe I had to read the last topic to understand what is going on here. But the OP doesnt even ask anything? Is he only trying to find out if 200whp is possible in a sohc or does he have one and is have problems with it? What is the the thesis statement to this topic?

I've reopened the topic for our special guest SOHC Superstar to show the OP something that he probably hasn't seen before.

I haven't either.

Hrm...

If I remember right, Mugen D16A1 ZCs (from the 80's) were hitting 200-ish HP on a good day, but...

They were DOHC D-series motors, not SOHC!

EDIT #1

Um...

Here's a D16A6 all motor with 200WHP DD (carbed not injected)...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Propulsion

Casino's EF6 relies on a D16A6 sourced from his '89 USDM CRX Si. Bore equals 78mm thanks to Exospeed-designed 12.0:1 Arias pistons. Custom length Eagle rods clamp down to the factory crank via ARP rod bolts, resulting in a longer 90mm stroke. Displacement measures in at 1720cc.

Industrial Performance of Carson, Calif., performed its signature-series port and polish on the head as well as a three-angle valve job. Stainless-steel, nitride-coated valves are housed between ISKY race springs and below ISKY titanium retainers. A custom ground Exospeed camshaft is fine-tuned with an AEM camshaft gear.

Weber 45mm side draft carburetors and TWM runners bolt up to the SOHC head. The larger carbs were selected based on their top-end capabilities and their ability to work best under high compression. A Mugen header and Mugen teardrop muffler evacuate exhaust gases.

Fuel enters the Webers with the help of a Holley fuel pump and an Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Ormes Bros. hooked up the steel braided fuel lines and custom fuel rail. With no ECU, timing events are controlled with an MSD 8980 timing controller. Spark's enhanced with NGK V-Racing plugs, MSD 8.5mm wires and an MSD distributor cap.

The gearbox was also sourced from Casino's '89. Close ratio Exospeed gears are outfitted to the L3 transaxle as is a Quaife limited-slip diff. Before installing the gearbox, Casino installed an Action dual diaphragm, six-puck clutch and an Exospeed aluminum flywheel.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Here's some purdy D16A6 pics...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Japanese EF6s rolled off assembly lines with 1.5-liter SOHC engines boasting carbs, not injection. LOL...I know Ricky from Industrial Performance (he was my team crew member for 2 seasons), and that set up never hit anywhere near 200whp. It was an attempt to replicate our efforts without success.

The only street setup to do it existed in my CRX, and here is a dyno chart to prove it:

Key elements: Bisimoto Spec head porting, level 3 hardwelded camshaft, induction and proper tuning.

BTW, Eagle does not make custom rods, and custom length rods do not increase stroke!

Its SOHC like the one above that makes me glad to still have at least one car with a SOHC in it, I like my b16, but for the price SOHC can be power pushers, any chance of a turbo on that already 200hp lol

i wanna rape that a6 above.

Oh and on the no vtec... I dont think vtec really makes a big diff on sohc except for the engine push a little more power naturally right? vtec doesnt equal more power? I may be wrong.
