1998 EJ8 w/ B16A2 issues with Idle and Bogging.
Long time reader, first time poster. This site has helped me with a lot of issues just reading over everyone else problems and solutions, but I'm a little stuck and could use some assistance. I'm also sort of new to the Honda scene, although not cars in general, just mainly old domestics with carbs were my main work. My B16A2 is stock except for short ram air and Meegan headers.
I've looked over so many of these forums on issues with any B series Idle and bogging issues and tried them myself, but to no avail. I have a B16A2 from a 99 SI in my EJ8 Hatch with a 98 EX harness. My old harness was pretty chopped up as i had bought the car from notorious Honda poachers, so i purchased another harness and had help on the install, with 2 wire IACV and added Knock sensor. (Running OBD1 conversion) My main issue is that the car is running great when your giving her gas, but as soon as you come off the throttle, she bogs down and RPM drops to near stall, before coming back up and loping. I tried to adjust the voltage on the TPS, but cannot for the life of me bring it down to the recommended .45 volts, as at close mine reads 5.0-4.5 volts with 3 different TPS and 2 different meters. WOT voltage just jumps crazily. Idle is sitting around 700-800 but it has a slight lope and jumps anywhere from 200-1000 rpms, although not consistently. Anyone else have these kinds of problems? My intake is P2T, which is stock numbers for B16A2 IM, as i've found. But my TB looks after market, and does not have FITV. Not sure if that helps. IACV was cleaned and when unplugged, idle drops. But when TPS is unplugged while running, not change in idle or running is noticed.
Is it more than likely that my wiring is messed up? I just can't fathom that 3 different TPS are bad, although none are new. I believe my ECU is a p30, i will have to check after work to verify. Tried a chipped P28 from another EJ running a B and i had the same issues, but my computer ran his car fine. I'm stumped so any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Re: 1998 EJ8 w/ B16A2 issues with Idle and Bogging.
I did have a friend that text me after i posted this about when we rewired the TPS pigtail, we might have switched the two outside wires on the socket, causing the TPS to read WOT when i should read closed. That sounds good because i was dumping gas heavily before and this can account for that. I will switch the wires tonight and let everyone know if this fixes the issue i was having.

if you used a ex harness you shouldnt of had to rewire anything or add anything.. i think u have to extend one wire but thats it...

Re: 1998 EJ8 w/ B16A2 issues with Idle and Bogging.
The guy only brought up that wire switch due to the fact that im getting 4.5-5.0 voltage at close and not at WOT. He said he had the same problem and swapped them and the voltage came out perfect.
EDIT: I just re read what the 2nd poster wrote, your right, we didn't rewire when we used the EX harness, i don't know why my brain thought that. But i do want to try the guys wire switch method. Can't hurt.
And no doucableEX, it is you that is the douche, little brother.

Re: 1998 EJ8 w/ B16A2 issues with Idle and Bogging.
That's a good point. I'm going to check the year of my P30 ECU, as i've read there is an OBD1 and OBD2 P30. That could be something throwing my TPS off.

buddy was having the same problem after we swapped his ef. Eventually it got so bad that it wouldn't even start. After trouble shooting everything we could think of I noticed his spark was kind of weak so we changed the ignition coil and reangled the distributor and runs like a champ now.
