spark plug electrodes black
Before I did my valve cover, spark plugs, and spark plugs wires. My old spark plugs, upon coming out, came out looking beat up - but with white rings under the electrodes.
Now whatever I did I got enough of something [oil maybe], that every time I change the spark plugs the white ring comes out black after running them in the engine for a few minutes. I then use break cleaner to clean the spark plug, put them back in, run the engine for another minute and they are black tipped again. Can anyone guess the source of my problem and to resolve it?
Thanks!!!

Engine is running rich.
Check for any stored codes.
Verify all components are in proper working order.
Verify air cleaner is clean/functional.
Verify fuel pressure is within spec.
Verify compression is within spec.

I would use some seafoam to check for an exhaust leak anywhere from the exhaust manifold gasket to the oxygen sensor. You can do this by unplugging the hose for the brake booster where it meets the intake manifold. On a cold start, while the engine is idling at 1500+ add a gentle amount into the hose so it sucks into the intake manifold. It's very very important to add only a light amount, then it will smoke which is what you want. Quickly look intently all around the exhaust manifold for any white smoke leaking out(it shouldn't) all the way to the oxygen sensor. There should be no leaks. If there are leaks, you found your problem.
