Default mods

what are some good starting mods for a car. this is my first time adding performance parts to a car and i am looking for some help on how to get started and what to add. i have a 1994 accord

basic free breathing mods are usually a good start.
-cold air or short ram intake (under $100 with a K&N filter)
-cat back exhaust ($200-$450)
-others (header, high flow cat)

suspension mods are always
-coilovers ($500 & up)
-others (good spings instead of coilovers, strut bar, etc)

The free breathing mods will not add much power, unfortunately. Nothing too heart stopping. Suspension would be the first thing I would tackle.

suspension or wheels and tires....and not 45 lb 19" chrome wheels either....something with less rotational mass

Suspension first for sure an aftermarket intake will make the car a little more fun to drive (mainly because of the sound) if you have never delt with performance parts before.

i was thinking of adding an:
AEM cold air intake
DC sports ceramic header
A'pexi WS cat back exhaust

Suspension:
Eibach sway bar set
Eibach springs to lower it between 1.3 and 1.5 inches

I have Eibach Pro-kit on mine...Great ride and all but if you want your car to have no fender gap dont' get these..The gap is still big...I still feel really high up

depends on how much you want to spent and if you have any goals in mind. you get what you pay for. for example some advertisements will say that their intake will yeild 10-15hp. bs. you will be lucky if you got 5. exhaust same thing. they will report 20hp gains. bs. lucky if you got 5-10. dc header, same deal. may say 15, you may get 5-10. dc is only a few notches up from stock. reason why it is so popular is because of the price. if i had to do it over, i'd stay stock till i got the ends for a better header. your internals with start it all for you though. cams, better header such as smsp, higher compression pistons, ecu/fuel management. hell you can throw in a port and polish, smoother air flow. the better your motor breaths in conjunction with tunning the better you mods will perform.

Major engine mods:

-Swap in an h22
-Boost the F

Minor engine mods:

-Cold air or short ram intake (AEM, HKS..)
-Header
-Catback exhaust sytem (Apexi WS, RSR Exmag)

Suspension mods:

-Coilovers or springs/struts

Coilovers are more expensive, unless you're going with ebay crap, DONT. You could also check out omni power coilovers, cheap and not too bad.

Springs and struts..some to look into, H&R, Eibach, etc. springs. Sturts, Koni yellows, KYB AGXs, etc.

Check out the "guide to basic accords".
