So I recently had my 97 Honda Accord stolen and it was just recovered. The only damage is that the thiefs disassembled the ignition area so I have to use a screwdriver to turn on my car. I took the car to the local Honda dealer to estimate how much the cost of repairs will be and they say its going to cost $607 to install the ignition cylinder, cut and program a key, and recode the door lock. This sounds like alot to reinstall that ignition cylinder considering I think the car is only worth about $3,000 total and also I don't even know how necessary those last 2 repairs at all. Does anybody else think I could find a better price if I go with a good body shop in the area. By the way i'm in the College Park, MD/DC Metro area.
