Car Making Whining Noise
I have a 2000 Honda Accord SE and the car makes a whining noise whenever the heat or a/c is on. It also does it when the fan speeds are on 1-2-3-4. I also noticed that it makes the same noise when ever the defrost is used. I posted earlier to see if any one could help me with this, but I failed to mention the year and model.
I also had an air compressor put on but it isn't blowing very cool air. Does any one know what this could be? Miss Kita

Re: Car wouldn't start
I drive a 2000 Honda Accord SE. This morning I couln't get my car to crank and I had to use a boost to get it started. I know the car was making a whining noise whenever I turned on the fan speeds for the airconditioner. Could this be the alternator or the battery? I did not have this problem until this morning. Could it be the alternator belt ? If some one knows or has suggestions please help?

this could be ur alternator, when i hooked up my system in my previous car 95 bmw i got the worst whining sound from the alternator, every time i would turn on the stereo it would do that

If it cranked with a boost, and kept running when the cables were removed, you most likely have a bad battery.
The whining could be the Alternator working hard, trying to make something of the bogus Battery. The same could apply to when you asked it to work hard by turning on the A/C Fan etc. Althought that system can cause it's own whine as well....
You would do well to have both checked. The bad battery could well have damaged the alternator electrically.

I'd also check the trunk for your mother-in-law, they whine often and with the fold down seat they can get pretty loud
