i have a 97 accord and i had the same problem. You only have 2 chances to enter the correct code or u're screwed. Then u gotta take out the whole radio, unplug it, and then plug it back in to try it again . . . its a pain for 97 accords since u gotta take out the whole center console. Or u can just run your batt. dead and try it again i guess.

I had the code, if u don't have the code i say look in your manual or ask honda for the code for your car by giving them your VIN and all that fun stuff.

Why don't you have the code? It should be on a card (credit card size) with radio code on it. Look in your wallet maybe. Or you will have to contact honda and give them some information.

Sinse it is security related, Honda will request proof of ownership when you query at your local dealership (at least they're supposed to) for the radio code. They crossreference it by VIN Number. Bring your License and Registration when you show up at the service desk.

Actually, Honda cannot give out a radio code by VIN... nothing to do with security or ownership... but it's just not listed that way. You need the serial number for the radio.... and here's how to get it without taking the radio out.... works most of the time on newer models.

The radio needs to say "code".... not err 4 or something. If it doesn't say code.... disconnect the battery again... wait about 5 minutes, and reconnect. It should then say code when you push the power button for the radio. Once you get to that point... turn the radio power off.... hold down preset buttons 1 and 6 with one hand... and push the power button - turning it back on - with the other. The radio should then display a letter and 4 numbers like Uxxxx, then it will display a second set... likr Lxxxx the first four numbers are the first 4 of the serial number, and the second set of four numbers are the second 4.... making a total of 8. The letters mean nothing. Make sense? try this then post your seral number and I'll get you your code
good luck.

54363 is the correct code.... you shouldn't have to hold any of the numbers... just press each one. If it does nothing when pressed.... there might be another problem with the radio... preventing it from functioning like it should.

If you can give him the code from the serial number on the radio, would'nt that defeat the security. This could be a hot radio he's trying to get the code for. I'm not saying that it is, but it could be. Seems like you would have to have some proof of ownership of some kind.

edit:

you said it might be something else wrong, well what can it be?

I don't know about this. Something is wrong with this picture. Lapaz could have just got a hot radio going with no proof of ownership.
Hopefully not too many theives know about this.

my radio is original, I just recently bought my Accord.
and I was looking for the code because my wife is driving the car, and it didn't even had the owner's manual, I've tried to contact my local dealer, but they told me i had to take the radio out to get the serial number and maybe they would help
me.

again thank you.

I'm not saying you're a theif. Please don't get me wrong. But like I said, you could have been. Was the car pre-owned? (didn't have a manual or a radio code card) I got a credit card like thing with my 92 and again with my 03. Of course they were bought new.

I agree with BLKFLSH we definatly shouldnt just give people codes, thats just asking for trouble with stollen radio's. I'm not saying that Lapaz is a thief, its just we never know espesially because he is a new member

I agree about the codes thing too... but you have to consider the number of times I am asked for a radio code... once in a great while. And i'll take the chance that a thief is going to steal a radio, a factory radio no less... who steals those?..... join HT and make a post... just to get the code for a stolen radio. I'll side on the helping an honest person out front for now. Obviously if some idiot gave me a list of ten serial numbers I wouldn't do it... but one here and there is no probelm. What's more... there is no way to link the radio to a vehicle.... no cross reference. So there is no way to know for sure. It's ok to have some faith in people....

Sounds like the "anti-theft" radio does more harm than good. loose your code #, and your screwed. I hope the "imobilizer system" is more effective than that.

Please dont take any of this personally, you did nothing wrong. I am more concered with how HondaTechPro disperses his information. Potentially this could have been a stollen radio, i really dont think it was becuase lapaz is still on the forum, and if it was a stollen radio i'm sure he wouldn't care 2 ***** less about the forum. but the point is someone with only 5 posts is not trustworthy of such info to me. but i guess everyone has their own standards

honestly though, who the hell bothers with stealing stock radios? and then waste their time getting the code for it?

there's no resale value, they are not all that great to begin with. imo i would just hit the next car i see with a nicer aftermarket radio, probably easier to rip out too,

If their not worth stealing, you don't need anti-theft. They sould just do away with it.

I don't much care for the anti theft codes either.... and would Honda be pissed if they knew i was giving radio codes out? Probably... they would probably also be pissed if they knew I had copyrighted documents posted online. I am not saying it is totally right... but if it helps people out... which i believe it does 99.9999999999999999% of the time... no harm. If someone wants to steal a radio... or cry to Honda or something, then it's just a loss for all those people that could have been legitimately helped.
