99 accord harmonic balancer fell off
My girlfriend was driving and the harmonic balancer fell off. She stopped immedietly and had it towed home. The balancer and key way were scuffed up, so I bought a new one and installed them both. Now the balancer does not run true. It moves in and out about an eight inch. Has anyone had this happen. What should I do???? Any suggestions will help. Thanks

balancer is conneted to the crank. With it falling off its possible you damaged the crank. Worn or damaged thrust washers are the only reason I can think of the balancer moving in and out.

Make sure the pully is on all the way and setted prperly. If it is and is still moving then your crank has doen whats called "crank walk". It usually doesn't happen to hondas but it can happen to any car. Its very common on mid 90"s mitsubishi turbo eclipses. About the only way to correct this is by putting in new main bearings and thrust washers. That is if the crank is not damaged.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I think it would be hard to damage the crank, but possible, so I figure it is the thrust washer. It is seated properly and tight.
