Default LS turbo build questions

Yup, another LS build. Tried to search, but would get either no results or a sea of pages. Not to mention the obvious 500+ LS thread, I'm slowly working my way through that.

I've thrown a few Mitsu engines together in the past, but I want to take my time and do this one proper since it will be one of two "identical" race engines. I'm shooting for a reliable 400hp (@ flywheel) around 7k, something like 16-18psi according to my spreadsheet, on pump gas. I'm going to have it re-sleeved and bored to 84mm and I'll be using H-beam rods. ARP hardware where possible. A buddy of mine says he knows a guy who does cryo-treating, may do that too for ***** 'n giggles if I have money left over.

Pistons. Will stock CRV pistons hold up or should I look aftermarket? I've seen CP and SRP pistons thrown around a fair bit.

What else do I need to consider? Thanks!

any of the major forged piston manufacturers would work like Wiseco, CP, JE, Arias...

don't even consider stock crv pistons. go with something forged. arias, wiseco, cp, je, etc... they're all good choices.

make sure you end up sleeving a block that hasn't spun any main bearings.

i would put money into ceramic coating turbo/exhaust rather than cryo, but that's just me.

how high do you want to rev? the LS head rockers like to do bad things after going over ~8500rpm constantly.

your spending good money, why not put a vtec head on it? also like other said get some forged pistons, new bearings wont hurt too, grab a nice size set of injectors like 750cc. i like ceramic coating turbine housings, i had it done on my last setup, im looking forward to doing it again with my new turbo.

Thanks for the responses guys

Found an auction on ebay for Eagle H-beams and Wiseco 9:1 pistons for about $750, a good $250 less than I thought I'd have to spend. Not even considering stock pistons after seeing that.

I don't plan on hanging out about 7k much at all which has me kind of stuck over what to do about a compressor. I'm looking for something with good mid-range, but I'm somewhat worried about bouncing off the rev-limiter for extended periods since my tranny limits me to around 130 mph. Suppose I won't be boosting much up there trying to keep it off the limiter anyway, but its still something to consider I suppose. I have a GT2860 wheel now, or I can spend another $100 and get a Mitsu Big 16G wheel which is close to the GT3267.

Don't plan on going VTEC since that just more money I'd have to throw at it and I'd either have to get two heads or swap the head across blocks, which would be one more time consuming thing to deal with should one go during a race. Whatever I end up doing to this motor, I'll end up doing to a second. 750s eh? Don't suppose the DSM 440s I already have would suit the bill?

what tranny you plan on running that will limit you to 130mph?
I don't think there is a b series tranny that only goes to 130mph. especially the LS if your motor will allow you, a LS tranny will get you to + 200mph.
