Bumper exit exhaust
Does anyone have a bumper exit downpipe either driver or passenger side? I was thinking about doing it out the driver side since the turbine faces that way. The car used to have a side exit exhaust before I owned it and it wasnt that bad but I think it would be even "quieter" out the front instead of under the door where it was once.

Re: Bumper exit exhaust
we have helped setup several of these, most them will run a standard 90 degree bend out back past the rear tire; pretty simple to mod your current exhaust to get this setup

Im not worried about it being done. Im more concerned about the volume level in the cabin. Its not a daily but i'd like to be able to take it distances

Re: Bumper exit exhaust
I have it out of the passenger side on mine. Yeah, it's loud, but my full exhaust was louder IN the cabin than my bumper exhaust is. It's much louder to the car next to you who has the exhaust pointed out at them, perfect for pissing people off who are on cell phones in the right lane. I usually just cruise right next to them in a low gear so they can't talk, and they sure as hell aren't outrunning me.

Re: Bumper exit exhaust
My dad rode in the car with me the other day, we could hold a conversation just fine, and the only thing I have for an interior is a dash shell, 6pt cage, and 2 buckets lol.
When I get on it and the DP opens under the oil pan it's a different story though.

If I had to choose a place to run open DP it would be out of the bumper rather than the hood or just under the car. The bumper on the pass side would be best for noise in all of those situations. I just don't know how or where you would run the pipe if you still have a/c and p/s.
Just to ask, have you ever considered changing manifold and turbo placement? And you said that you have a 4" exhaust. Have you considered going with a 3" with multiple mufflers?

With the space you have in there I would switch the manifold out run whatever downpipe situation you like! Might pick up some serious ponies in the process.
Do you have an intake pipe for the turbo to get fresh air away from the radiator?

Re: Bumper exit exhaust
If its loud on the highway now with the exhaust out the back of the car, multiply that by about 10 times and thats how loud it will be coming out of the front bumper. Think of it this way your dump tube is pretty loud right now right now take all the engine exhaust noise and put it through a 3" megaphone sized pipe and being your LS having a bigger cam lobe running all the time its going to be very loud.
Is your exhaust going past the rear bumper currently? If its not thats causing alot of reverberation into the car.

Re: Bumper exit exhaust
put a 5" round muffler in the mid section and an oval muffler at the rear as big as you can fit and it will quiet it down. I only have a 3" but run a 5" x 18" round muffler in the mid section and as big as i could fit magnaflow oval in he rear and its quiet

Re: Bumper exit exhaust
Same here! I made a mistake and bought a glass pack for my mid muffler. Bad idea! It didn't change the tone much and added about 50 lbs to my car! lol

Re: Bumper exit exhaust
Your making 513whp on that log manifold? Damn thats impressive those manifolds are restrictive. If you picked up a ramhorn you would see some nice gains im sure. or with that amount or room a top mount
