Congrats to Chunky- 3 Years in the making............
Chunky and i have done alot of testing together. From headers to cam tests on his dyno mule EP3. Well Chunky recently put together his new motor.
We have always had a running bet that he couldnt beat my B Series (237whp/159TQ, DonF Built). His K20 has come close a few times but always was a few hp away.
Well tonight he finally got me, and i had to buy him dinner at Taco Mac.
Ill let him chime in on the engine mods but its a basic built K20, nothing really trick. IPS Cams, Rods, Pistons, RBC.
Dyno Chart:
RED KiddRACING Prototype Header
BLUE BORLA Header
I take solace in the fact he beat my record with one of my own products so it wasnt all bad.
SPecial Thanks to the guys at MainstreamPerformance.com for letting us stay late and dyno in the midst of them moving to a newer facility. Cant say enough about them always willing to go above an beyond to let us use their dyno.

It was about damn time I got that record. There's a more power in this motor once I have time to shake through some of the finer details. I did 16 pulls total tonight, and not all of them were for tuning. The dyno was acting funny, and I was tired to boot.
Testing out the header verified something I've always known - the old borla header I bought when I had a k20a3 motor in the car was holding me back. I didn't know how much it was holding me back, but I suspected 5-10hp. Now I don't have to guess about it anymore. I literally slapped the header on the car and gained HP throughout. No cam angle adjustments, no ignition adjustments, just some slight fuel adjustments to keep out of the lean zone. The A/F is conservative since this isn't the header that will stay on the car (I've got a nicer header on the way, no offense mike :p).
Regarding the header itself, it's a nice heavy piece. Feels more substantial than other lower cost headers like the buddy club. Fitment was good, cleared my stock 24mm front sway bar (I do have solid filled OEM mounts).

Exhaust cam is at neutral.
haha, If the Hytech takes me to 250, that will be one hell of a freaking header. I don't think it can do it without the manifold though.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Dyno is in MPH b/c the rpm pickup was being problematic. Torque graph is also absent b/c it was choppy.
VTEC is at 5000rpm, but I could have set it as low as 4500rpm with no loss in midrange. It would be annoying at 4500 with the 5.062 final drive so I kept it at 5000. I revved to 8500-8800. Fuel cut was at 8800 and I avoided it on all but a few runs. Since this isn't the final header & tune that will go on the car I didn't want to put the wear & tear on the motor. I'll tune to 9000+ once the Hytech header comes in.

Any updates? Don't tell me you are still waiting (according to the link in your .sig http://www.razid.com/car.html) on the Hytech header to arrive...
