All Motor LSVTEC Build (ANOTHER!): D-Rob's Daddy's CR-X (Pics, included)
UPDATED PICS ON PAGE 2 , PAGE 3 , PAGE 4, PAGE 8
Hello all of you all motor nuts,
Some of you may remember a thread I started almost a year ago, showcasing my personal LSVTEC build for my '98 Civic coupe. ( https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1415261 )
After realizing the success of the build in my car, my father, who's CR-X has undergone an almost complete restoration in the past six months, decided it was time to add a little bit more 'oomph' to his daily driver, which was powered by a very lightly modded JDM B16A w/LSD transmission.
The original plans for the CR-X were to add forced induction into the mix by means of a T3/T4 60-trim on the stock B16 block.
Then, as if by fate, an opportunity to buy a complete B18B longblock from a '96 automatic Integra LS for $100 came along.
So, after about a week of pondering what to do with it, my father decided to leave the future boost plans for his '04 S2000 eventually, and pull the B16 apart and use the pistons (PR3's) from the little one-six in the LSVTEC.
As soon as this decision was made, we stumbled upon another deal from Underground Racing for a complete valvetrain and their UGR Spec S2-2's. As for them, pictures will be coming at the end of the week, when they arrive.
But, so far here is the planned setup, and I'll contually update this thread with pictures of the new goodies, and out process of the build.
BLOCK:

89mm LS crankshaft (micropolished)

Full Race LSVTEC conversion kit
HEAD:
B16 (PR3) head (Removed castings flaws/smoothing of exhaust ports)
UGR valvesprings
UGR retainers
UGR Spec S2-3 camshafts (Skunk2 Stage 3 replicas)
UGR cam gears
UGR high compression valves
Ferrea valve seals
AEBS intake manifold
Prof. Products 68mm TB
JG Edelbrock ProFlow header (2.5" collector mod)
Custom test pipe
Tanabe Hyper Racing Medallion catback
DRIVETRAIN:
JDM B16 Y1 transmission with LSD
ACT HD/SS clutch
Fidanza flywheel
ENGINE MANAGEMENT:
Chipped P28
Uberdata 1.7
Tuned by J-K-Tuning.com (John= )
Now, enough of my babbling, onto the pictures.
Here's the freshly-honed B18B block
The crank, and both sets of rods and pistons are at the machine shop now, and should be done by the end of the week, along with the arrival of all the new toys.
The goals for this build are mid-to-high 12-second E.T.'s. With a weight advantage of about 350 lbs over my coupe (which ran 13.17 @ 104.9mph), this goal shouldn't be too unrealistic.
Thanks, and let me know whatcha' think.

Thanks. He wanted to go with a clean, JDM-emulated theme on the car. Just no bling-bling JDM front end yet.
My dad's a Honda-head, so I kinda' inherited it.

Re: (D-Rob)
Looks like another nice build from the Sound Inno.........
....but I can`t help but feel a deep, deep disappointment in the pit of my stomach right now....
I think you guys are just scared of boost. Scared that once you do you won`t go back to all motor.
I was being serious about the disappointment though. Just a tad.

I dunno'.
It's kind of our 'calling card' in the area, you know? Sound Inno guys and high compression/big cams.
Trust me, you'll get one drive in it, and fall in love with it when you come home from Japan.

I guess. You built one all motor coupe and had one nitrous CRX. The calling card is the whole Honda thing and racing. I was just kinda disappointed because you guys had me excited for boost and now look... another similar build to your car.
Don`t get me wrong. It`ll be fast as hell... and I`m sure it`ll be fun. Hell... your car and my car are pretty fun. But.... the turbocharged 11-second CRX would have added a whole other layer of cool to the Sound Inno inventory.
