Frustrating brake light problem
Vehicle: 1997 Acura CL 2.2L
Problem: Unable to resolve inoperable Brake lights
Symptoms: The left and right brake brake lights will not illuminate. The rear running lights WILL illuminate. The bulbs are new and have been checked. I have checked the the socket with a multimeter and power IS being supplied to the running light terminal but not to the brake light terminal upon activation of the brake pedal.
The center brake light is working however.!
All fuses have been checked. No blown fuses. I can't get to the brake pedal plunger swith to check it.
Any ideas ????

Re: Frustrating brake light problem (tennbidder)
sounds like a wiring issue. if it was a brake light switch it would affect the entire brake light system. has the car been in a accident ? if so check for some wire damage or a severed wire in the trunk area . does the right side work ?
also could be problem with the brake light failure sensor.
if you send me a email i will send you the electrical schematic

I have a similar issue. My right side break light would not illuminate and everything looks fine otherwise.
It may be relevant to say that the bumper was slightly hit in a fender-bender accident some years ago but the light went off more recently.
