Sputtering engine only a sign of bad gas, or could there be more behind it?
Background: After hydrolock car sat with 1/3 tank of gas for 5 months,
After the motor rebuild was completed, I left in that gas in and filled it up with 93 octane and poored in a bottle of gas treatment, it ran fine NO problems, I ran the tank all the way to about the empty line and never had a problem.
Then I filled it up again last night with 93 octane and put in gas treatment.
This after noon on my way to work my motor just started sputtering as I was going up a large hill, and at stop lights it was sputtering as I acclerated from a start. On my way home the car sputtered EVERY time I began to accelerate, didn't matter if it was from a stop or not.
What exactly is happening when the car is sputtering, is it just not firing at all or is it detonating? I don't want to F!-up my pistons and valves.
I have 250 miles on my rebuilt motor, 12:1 compression, Toda B's

if u have a vafc check the wiring, make sure they are soldered, and make sure the "throttle" on the vafc hasnt gone crazy. also check the timing, cam gears, distributor cap and rotor

I do have a VAFC, I'll make sure to check the wiring, the guy that installed it said it was soldered I'll have to check... the cam gears and timing belt are fine, which when it first starting happening I was afraid my timing belt had shredded AGAIN...
But it wasn't...
But it wasn't...

alright, and make sure that the throttle on the vafc isnt getting stuck. on mine a couple of times it would stutter like you said and the throttle would be reading like 30% even at 0
