I need some advice on removing my one piece 4-1 header.

What’s the best way go, remove the header when the car isn’t on a lift? I’ve got regular jack stands and a jack, but that’s about it. Looking at it, I don’t think dropping the header down is going to work, as it won’t clear the radiator, etc.

Can I pull the header up and out via the engine bay?

I would at least jack the car up on jackstands, unbolt it from the cat, take the radiator and condenser fans out.

From there check to see if you have clearance and simply pull forward and drop down.

does removing the radiator and condenser fans apply to installing/removing all one piece headers??? theres no way of doing it without removing anything?

RStoR and I installed my JDM 4-1 from underneath the car. Didn't remove anything, but it was not easy, IIRC. Just have to hold your teeth just right.

Depending on the header, I would say remove the fans and radiator as described. Besides that way you have an easy in easy out job instead of trying to contort yourself/header out of there.

take the fans out that way you dont get your pretty header all fingered up when you get pissed when you cant get it up there

iirc, just removing the condensor fan will give you enough room to slide the header out from underneath

I had no issues installing my Toda from underneath withouth removing anything.

I too did a JDM 4-1 installation/removal. Jack your car up and place jackstands underneath them in the proper locations.

Remove the 12mm bolts/nuts from the flange and disconnect the 02 sensor. Along with that, remove it from the cat/testpipe. Weasle it out from underneath it and you should be fine. You shouldnt have to remove any fans or condensers.

Sheesh, yall want to make a 5 minute job into a 30 minute job.

um if you are talking about the jdm 4-1 header, you just gotta turn it a little bit to get it to clear when you take it off. And putting it back on is vice versa. Dont try and pull it straight down, because obviously it hits, just angle it a bit and you should be good to go!

With or without, clearances shouldnt be a problem.

I've taken mine (same header as you) out several times without removing anything and its really not all that hard. Just takes a bit of manuvering. Only takes me a couple minutes.

I removed a DC 4-1 from my first FBP R and I didn't remove anything to take it off, so I'd assume that it's almost as easy to do the opposite.

I forgot to mention, if you do remove the radiator and condensor fan, I'd highly recommend cutting a piece of cardboard box the size of your radiator and taping it with masking tape to protect it from being damaged during the removal and installation.

I don't think any has mentioned it, but I was able to mount my OEM JDM 4-1 header without removing any fans, etc. (from underneath of course, with the front of the car jacked up)

We're not saying it's impossible, it's just alot easier if you do remove them.

Less cussing, less banging, less finger cutting, etc..,

Only thing that has to be removed it the splash shield under the Rad support.
