Re: How to: power steering to manual (Pompiuses)
I just finished doing it. All I can say is dont underestimate how long it takes to remove the old crap. Once thats out though its pretty easy if you got small hands. One thing that stumped me was how to unscrew the pressure line without breaking the metal line. As I turned the bolt the line twisted with it and eventually snapped. I dont really care but I know that I will probably be mad at myself for breaking it later on if I go to sell the car.

I recently added Prothane Poly Rack bushings to my car. If you have any "slop" at all from the rack this helps eliminate it.

This has to be one of the easiest conversions ever. You can definately feel the road much better, which is important to me.

Hmmm. What was the level of difficulty in swapping out the rack bushings?

Damn you guys. Now I have another winter project just to keep up with the Joneses.
Maybe I'll just get a BFD and drill two holes in the bottom of the rack. Screw that useless plumbing chit.

It was easy..........................the motor was out.
I would say, not bad on a hoist. Ok on jack stands IMO

If you pull the motor..............no problem.
With the motor in....................I am getting to old to crawl around under someone elses car, I bitch enough when it is my own car
If you can get it on a hoist we can talk.

After reading this thread from beginning to end... I only have 2 questions:
1) What's the exact purpose for getting these parts which seem to be no longer available at that site?
http://www.hosenow.com The part number for the threaded fitting and the barb adapter are 15.117-6-6 ($14.00) and FBM 1222 ($2.50) along with the .50 brass fitting from NAPA?
2) when removing the pressurized lines, should I be prepared for some power steering fluid to be draining out?

Re: How to: power steering to manual (Padawan)
Reviving this thread. How can i loop the power steering system if it has been disconnected and running dry for quite some time? Is there a way I can rehydrate it and then loop the line?
I didn't do it the the car myself, the guy I bought this ride from did it. and never looped any lines!
gr8 thread, can anyone help me out?
