Default EVAP P1457 - Did troubleshooting....where is Purge Control Solonoid Valve?

OK 3 questions, i've got P1457 code, been getting it a few times now after i have it turned off.

I did the troubleshooting in the helms and its telling me to check the purge control valve, where is the purge control valve on a 2000 Civic Si? The shut valve is ontop of the canister in the engine bay, but doesn't say or show a pic of the purge control solonoid valve.

Also when doing these tests, when i did the first test, it didn't say to put the shut valve back in and goto the next test, but i assumed that is what i was supposed to do. After i do a certain test am I supposed to put the hoses back to the way they were?

Last but not least, when it had me check the vaccuum on a hose and i was supposed to keep the car at 3000rpm until fan kicked on, it said to put it into 1st (manual tranny) does it really need to be put into first gear? Will that change if it has vaccum or doesn't?

i know this is in civic as well, but i usually get a quick, accurate and detailed response from you guys

is your gas cap original? because this can cause the code to come on. The thing i see most at work is the bypass solenoid failing. this is the solenoid at the LR corner of the gas tank. If you have access to a honda scan tool, actuate each solenoid individually, if the solenoid clicks when activated it is ok. hope this helps you out. BTW its a bitch to change because you have to drop the tank a little to access it and up here at least, the bolts are usually rusty from the salty roads. good luck

I was told that 1456 was fuel cap. Its orginal, have had it for all 34k miles. Can you see /test the bypass valve with the tank still up?
