AC Stalls Engine?
Hey guys, thanks in advance for your help.
When the AC turns off during idle (whether manually or automatically), it wants to stall out the engine, almost as if the engine is not getting fuel for a moment.
I've had this problem with my R since I bought it and lived with it. But I'm really getting sick of it now and would really like to fix it without the help of the dealership.
Any advice? I suspect it's something to do with the clutch sticking, causing the compressor to be engaged past the point when the fuel map changes back to low during idle.
Cheers!
Eric

If you suspect its the compressor clutch, you could watch it while you have somebody turn it on and off it should stop right away, On hondas the computer is increasing and decreasing the idle speed via the IAC motor too keep the engine from stalling when the AC is turned on, I haven't come across a problem where it stalls when turned off though

Thanks, guys, I will try looking at the compressor to see if there is a delay in disengagement.
Another strange thing that happens is sometimes you turn on the AC and it doesn't engage, you have to play with the switch before it will engage. Not sure if it's a sticky clutch.
