Need Help! SPLASH GUARD needed!!
I was getting my Front Wheel Bearings replaced at my local acura, and it was discovered that my axle is stuck in the drivers side hub. I'm screwed and have to replace the knuckle, hub, SPLASH GUARD, C-clip, and drivers side axle. Thanks to the years of Snow, salt, and rain in the ChicagoLand area, and the fact that i have ignored and put off getting wheel bearings. My Local Acura was able to get all the other parts at Delray internet price for me, but the SPLASH GUARD (#21) for the front brakes are on back order. I was wondering if anyone could help me out wit a drivers side splash guard.
TIA
Justin

Your axle is stuck? I mean I've heard of them being a bitch to get out, but I've always gotten them out on hondas. I'd soak it in penetrating oil for like 2 days straight applying it every 4 hours or so....then wack the **** out of it with a mallet...Always worked for me.

First, splash shields are NOT needed. over 50,000 miles w/o and not a single problem. Benifit= cooler brakes. Just take off the other side.
Second, if the dealer can't get the axle out, they should hire better mechanics.

Re: Need Help! SPLASH GUARD needed!!
I can understand my driver's side wheel bearing being bad enough to a point where they can't get it out. My wheel bearing was pretty bad for some time now. Pass side came out with little problem. The head tech is at the dealership works on my caR, and i guess all the other techs took a shot at trying to free the axle from the hub.
My next question would have been if its is really needed? and what is the benefit of having it? Since it is only 20 bucks i have no problem replacing it.

Yup. I went in to see what the did, and they had removed the knuckle then tried to press the axle out of the spindle. With HEAT, and Nothing. So i have to replace it all. Knuckle, hub, C-clip, Bearing, axle, and splash guard.
Does the Hub come pre-assembled with a bearing/c-clip?
