Fluid leak where tranny meets block
b18c gsr motor/tranny
At first thought I figured it was my rear main seal. When my buddy took a look he pointed out that it looks much too clean to be motor oil.
I suppose it could be tranny fluid but shouldnt this be dark as well?
My clutch fluid leaks from the resovoir(sp?) feed line but I guess the slave cylinder could be going too. I noticed a while ago the nut/bolt thingwhere the line meets the csc was quite loose and at the time of writing this I just realized it may only be hand tight.
From what I understand, and I could be wrong, clutch fluid leaks directly from the csc if the csc is bad, could it be leaking onto the clutch assembly and thrown about the bell housing? My clutch engages quite well and It chirps 3rd as long as theres fluid in it.
To sum it up, there is what I suspect to be clutch fluid leaking slowly from where my tranny meets the block. What might it be?

Use your nose and your fingers: What does it smell, like? What does it feel like?
Now go smell the clutch fluid, the power steering fluid, your bottle of MTF, the engine oil, the coolant, the brake fluid, and any other fluids you can get your nose on. If you don't have any MTF available, the OE stuff smells sulphury.
Does your drip match any of them?
Is it maybe...plain water?

Welp, I found that the radiator hose just above that area had a small leak but the fluid I was seeing isnt green.
It smells similar to clutch fluid and is actually a light yellow.
It almost looks like oil now but I think its from sitting on the outside of the engine collecting dust, as it is still not nearly as dark.
Im probably going to change my csc and cmc but I might as well save up for a new clutch at the same time.
as stated before my clutch performs quite well assuming theres fluid in the line

Pull the boot back on the slave cylinder and see if it's wet under there. If fluid is dripping sufficient to make a droplet on the bellhousing, then the outside of the rubber boot should be wet somewhere.

Re: Fluid leak where tranny meets block
Anyways, it looks like brake fluid but I can't find where it's coming from. It's the motor nor the transmission or coolant. I just need to use a bright *** flood light to see where it's coming from exactly.
It's tough trying to find this leak exactly
