Default Camshaft bearing caps are really tight! help!?

Hey,
So i'm taking out the head bolts from my b18b to change head gasket and since i have to take off the camshafts to do so, i started by taking off the camshaft bearing cap bolts. Those came off no problem but now i'm trying to actually take off the caps themselves and they are not coming off at all, not even budging. I tried tapping them lightly with a rubber mallet all around to loosen them but there is still no give at all.
Any suggestions how to get these caps off so i can remove the camshafts?
Thanks!!

tap them with a ball hammer. from the back and from the front lightly. they should budge. because they all have guides that get stuck. so maby thats why.

just tap the bottom of the cam gear. they'll go. and yea, it's the dowels that they're hung up on. nothing to worry about

Yeah they're usually hard to take off. Make sure you don't make a f***ing dumb mistake like I did and used a flathead and a rubber mallet to wedge it off. You'll end up making a mark since the metal on it is pretty soft.

ball...brass... your both idiots, use a god damn rubber mallet so you dont damage the cam sprocket. Typically thats all it needs but dont go too hard because you could damage the cam. Usually a flat head screwdriver can lift them the rest of the way.

all it takes is a light tap. it wouldn't hurt anything. or you could just pry up on the gear with bar. this way would keep it more controlled

i never said ball or brass. figured it was common sense to use a rubber mallet

I didn't mean use the brass hammer to hit the sprocket. Anyone hitting the cam upward by the sprocket is the idiot, you can **** the cam up. You use the brass hammer (cause brass is a softer metal and won't do damage) to tap the cam caps loose then they pull right up
