Body repair costs? Rear quarter
I'm looking at a 98 sedan that has a side-swipe type hit in the rear side. The door looks like it'd have to be replaced but what wirries me is the rear quarter is scraped up too. The body panel looks like it goes up into the roof in one piece. Would repairing this panel cause the price to raise exponentially?
I may just look at another car, but if i got it at a good price it could be worth fixing.

In my opinion, unless you are getting an extremly good price you should look elsewhere. I had the quarter panel on my Cavalier replaced and I think it cost close to 1500 not to include the price of the painting involved. But you could get away with much cheaper than that if you don't need to replace it and it can just be pulled/filled. Good luck.

Depending on the extent of the damage really, it could or could not be expensive.
If the damage in fact requires a new panel be installed, it will be very costly. There is a lot of work involved in that.
If the dents can be pulled and smoothed over with body filler, it wouldn't cost as much to do that. But that also doesn't carry as high of quality either.

yeah, definitely no pulling this out. It's gouged up, not really dented in. I suppose they'd try filling it but I ain't interested in that. Ad started with "NOTHING wrong with this car, except maybe the scrape in the door" blah blah.
Price isn't good enough for me, sounds like we're talking $2-3K with paint and all.

the quarter panel is fused with the frame. to replace just the quarter panel costs like 1500 to 2000. depending on the damage, you might be able to find a body shop that will cut out teh messed up part, and weld a new piece of metal back in. Either way it's not very fun
