ac removeal

Re: ac removeal (zeroz)
I don't believe it yields any hp gains but it takes a bit of weight off if you remove the entire unit.
Unless it's strictly a track car and every pound makes a difference, save yourself the discomfort and leave it in.
(If you say you dont use it thats a lie because i hardly ever use mine but when its horribly humid out on a rainy day in the middle of august, you bet your *** my ac is blowing at max power!)

Re: ac removeal (zeroz)
it eliminates a belt.... and a lot of weight, and will give better air flow, if you can deal with the heat for a few minutes you could take it out, once you are moving fresh air is just fine....
personally, i took mine out for my turbo clearance

if u do rip it out, i'll buy the front piping from you.
the pipe that runs across the radiator from the driver side to the passenger side.
i need that pipe for the longest!
thanks

Re: ac removeal (rkrone)
im taking my AC out before i install my turbo kit. the AC has needed a charge since i bought the car about 2 years ago; i just got used to it. it doesnt bother me. you will save about 100lbs if you take out the AC.

Re: ac removeal (zeroz)
I felt gains in the midrange right away, when i took the belt off.
The whole system is pretty heavy. The heaviest part being the compressor, but you still have the dryer, condenser, evaporator, lines, fittings etc...it deffinetly adds up! It's at least 60lbs worth of dead weight.

Re: (teddy_dc2)
The actual weight is 44-46lbs, my friend and I both took ours out of our G3 Integras. Stop posting grossly erroneous numbers, I see everything from 20-100lbs in this thread.
