Valve Adjustment Help/ Piston Ring Knock?
Okay here is the deal.
Turboed D17 02 civic.
Swapped a JY Motor in. Car Ran fine. Had a bad head gasket, no bad noises (from what i remember) I swapped the new HG and I had this weird ticking noise.
Car never ran low on oil or anything. I have been boosted 8psi and really getting on it and it has not blown up. Noise has been the same. I decided to pull the head. Got it resurfaced and they said all valved looked okay and head was fine.
The top of the pistons looked good, the walls looked fine.
Now I went to get my car tuned today/dyno'd and they guy woulnd't do it due to the noise in the engine. It sounds like its from the bottom end. But then again I have been driving like it and its been fine. Doesn't act funny when I drive
Now when I give it gas from a stop its loud. In the morning its the loudest then it goes away. It's not rod knock, i'm 100% sure of that.
The tuner looked it up and said to make my valve clearance a tad bit looser then what honda says and that worked for many people. Then said maybe my wrist pins are messed up?
Any ideas? I did another valve adjustment this AM and it didn't help the noise. I was going to try tommrow to do it again and make it not as "tight"
Pretty sure i did .10 and .8
Any thoughts?
