What clutch recommendation for B-series turbo engine making 300ft-lbs of torque?
I have a built ls-v and Im looking to make around 450-500hp. I am trying to figure out which clutch will hold up best for the power and torque I will be making. Will a clutch master FX500 or a comp clutch stage 4 hold up and which one do you guys recommend between the two? I am looking for people who have had experience with either one of them. How do they hold up? or should I just go with an action clutch Ironman clutch?

So at that HP level that would put you at what, roughly 320-360ft lb of torque?
i have a comp stage 4 in mine at 324whp/260tq and it’s a nice clutch. I’m not too sure about your power level how well it would hold up. I’d imagine ok? I can’t speak on the other one though. Good luck!

I have an Action clutch and I love it. I did not take into account the torque rating when I purchased it though.. I have the stage 3 1ms. I am NOW over its rated value and am beginning to slip up top. I have been looking at their higher offerings and it seems that the stage 5 sprung disc may be next. It is rated at 300-400 and I am waiting for a response for more info. I have never ran an unsprung disc but have heard they are REALLY harsh. Now, I don't drive my EG every day, but it is also not solely a track vehicle. I do drive it on the street so, I do want SOME level of comfort that is going to hold 320-350 torque. Given Action's available options, it seems that the most extreme clutch; the iron man, would almost be the likely candidate and again, I don't want anything that harsh. The comp 4 may be too weak as well for what you're wanting. So that leaves the FX500 as your most likely candidate.

i talked to both companies, the response time between the two was almost laughable. Comp clutch made you feel like family when I called an talked to them, I did not get that vibe from Action. As a business owner I always stay with companies that I know will back up the products they sell

I like Neptune, don't get me wrong, but James has an arrogance that just eeks me. Not to mention offering the VAGUEST POSSIBLE answer to your questions.. I like that he is quick to respond but, damn, if it leads to more confusion than prior to asking, it's not worth even trying..

Back to the original question outside of CS issues and rants regarding various companies.
For 450whp or so, that's about 300 foot pounds of torque. A clutch Masters fx400 would do more than the trick

The comp stage 4 is rated at 250% over stock. Stock is what, 100 or so give or take. So it’s rated at 350ish tq. So in theory you should be ok.

Thank you for all your inputs. I am leaning towards getting the clutch masters FX500. My next question is do I get the 4 puck or 6 puck? What is the difference? I do not plan on driving the car much, maybe on the weekend to go play and on the track mostly.

Re: What clutch recommendation for B-series turbo engine making 300ft-lbs of torque?
6 puck will be a bit less aggressive than the 4 puck and provides a bit less clamping force. The 4 puck will provide more clamping force, but will be much more aggressive.

Normal non X 8026-1620 CC stage 4 is for 542 nm or 400 ftlb.
Id say more than enough for your target.
Stage 3 is for 350ftlb and i guess its very very streetable but you dot want to use anything at max rating.

Comp Stg 4 and Stg 5 are surprisingly streetable and easy to drive. Drag launches with slicks are what really eats the single discs, if its more of a street car then a Stg 4/5 will get the job done.
My Clutchmasters FX750 twin disc was forever warping - the Hybrid plate setup was great for street driving and user friendliness, but the clutch became a service item. I was running 600 whp on 24.5 slicks. I'm personally going to be trying a different brand for my Evo.

THIS is why more and more people are going to fb groups.
This place barely gets any responses as it is. Let people talk about what they want to talk about. Its not like 2008 and you need to keep threads on topic because 30 people are blowing up one thread.

And whats up with all the damn stickys at the top of the forum. Put them all back into the ONE thread with stickys.

It is not unusual for a topic to trail off a bit. As long as it isn't INCREDIBLY skewed, it's usually tolerated. I think customer service IS a valid concern to throw in with potential clutch recommendations, yes. The bulk of the topic should not focus on that, however, unless the OP starts in that direction.

Or. You can go to FB and rant there if this just isn't your 'flavor of tea any longer.

HT is full of technical info that just cannot be found anywhere else. So to keep future research simple, and keep on topic information in the threads is pretty important. Sure we all move and switch subjects, but on a technical question it seems like a good idea to keep it technical. Or at least to me it does. We can discuss anything is other more non tech threads.

Let users get a little off topic. Mods should rarely get in threads. We dont need 100 different forums for every specific topic. Theres not even a hundred active members in this place.
i dont even like opening this tab because i have to scroll past literally 20 stickies to get to the first post.

Ah, a man (or woman) after my own heart.. ..
It's so nice to have anonymous fans..
Right, because attempting to berate me or instigate nonsense against me as a moderator is the surest way to change my mind or alter the normal SOP towards you more favorably.
Didn't read thouroughly enough in my response to Txdragon's comment regarding allowing a bit of latitude did you? I understand, you're passionate... you want to make an immediate impact where you're the hero... A symbol of freedom... Gotcha.
The more you go forward in your decision to "make your stand" and debate your ideology about me here & now, the more likely the entire thread gets diverted, distracted, and deleted in which the OP (nor anyone else) gets no further relevant information. Everyone loses.
If you want to discuss 1st Amendment Constitutional Legal concepts and their various levels of scrutiny, just PM me directly. But here, your attempt at diversion against the way I regulate the forum is, well...embarrassing... to put it mildly.
In the meantime, here's a brand new created thread just for those that want to continue the tangent , so that the OP's questions aren't lost in the noise.
Clutch company customer service rant thread
With that, I leave the proverbial "ball" in your court, sir.
