Care to share what your axle/tire/tranny/traction bar set up is?

im starting to build up the next weakest link and i dont dare launch on my OEM axles on slicks.

just curious to see if all the 'stories' ive heard are just myths or indeed facts.

If your car is capable of running 11 secound 1/4 miles then you should very well look into the drivetrain setup. Oem axles can take a beating but its just a matter of time before they break and leave u screwed. Full race or z10 traction bars, maybe some stage 3 axles, gsr tranny is always nice with boost.

I ran stock OEM axles for 2 years on 130+ launches on slicks. Many are 1.75 or faster 60ft times. No traction bars. Best 60fts were 1.68-1.69 .

LS turbo, LS tranny, Launch control at 6,000
25x8x13 M&H slicks w/ 9psi of pressure.
7,800rpm revlimit

Ran 11.3 @ 124 w/ no 4th gear switching to a lovely LS 5th gear

thanks, the coilovers came with the car when i bought it.

i have some custom rate ground controls for it, for drag racing but im scared to change the set up cause it works so well

no traction bars either, people talk about wheel hop but i guess i either havent experienced it or just dont know i have...... i like thge car to spin just a tad, it helps keep from breaking stuff

also i use the Ebrake/staging brake to preload the car

exedy twin
24.5x9x13 mt's
13x3 weld racelights
omni drag suspension full-race pro-ams not installed yet
10.65@135 1.79 60foot
60 should be runner but that was my first pass in the car this season... 20psi straight out of the hole due to no boost controller

I haven't run 11's yet, but I can tell you that slicks are easier on axles than street tires. Street tires can tend to hop which is what really kills axles.

very true, and more people break axles on drag radials as well, due to the NON wrinkleing effect and weight, DRs are heavy

Koni adj. struts
ebay coilovers/ H&R Racing springs
M&H 25x9x13 slicks
Diamond racing wheels 13x8
DSS Stage 3 axles
near solid motor mounts
PG Locker
3.55 transmission

the thing that kept me from breaking axles...proper engine alignment in the chassis...keeping the motor from rocking/moving, keeping the axles perfectly perpendicular to the trans case, etc

Thing that helped my 60' the most...corner balancing my car.

1.66 60' and did a 7.5@99

i later did a 11.80@124 (only 1 pass and it was shitty)

yeah, my friend in the past 2 months has broken 2 diff's and 5 sets of axles on his BFG's. including a set of stage3 axles.

ran a 10.98 @ 127 on slicks w. stock axles and stock open diff.

tim you just dont know how to drive!

OEM axles are fine just get teh autozones and some traction bars and youll be good. My guess is the axles dont break becuase of shear power its cause of the wheel hop and the angle they are being forced into that they are breakin....

but if im wrong i say stage 3 axles
