reading posts, now confused - SC61 & SC63 - need specs and advice
I am doing my first turbo build up, so I apologize if any of this seems too n00bish.
I was originally going to go with a T3/60-1 for my prelude, but it seems that the SC61 is a more popular option.
Questions:
- SC61 is a regular T3 flange that will fit my T3-flanged manifold, right?
- what are the differences between a SC61 and SC63?
- What turbine A/R's can I get the SC61 & SC63 in? I was going to use either the .83 or .64 on the 60-1, guess I'm looking for something similar with the SC61 /
SC63...
-stage 3 vs. stage 5 turbine - whats different, how does it affect the performance, and would it affect what A/R I choose?
most important part - my minimum goal: Street driven, full boost by 4,000 RPM, and 400 whp on 93 octane. I'll be revving a 2.4L H-series to about 7500-8000.

i'd say talk to either precision directly or any of the dealers here. they will be the most knowledgeable. i know art (arturbo) and mike (motormatrix) are dealers and i am sure there are more.

both sc61 and sc63 are 4 bolt flanges, so yes they wil fit a t3 4 bolt manifold.
sc63 has a bigger shaft then the sc61
stage 3 vs stage 5, they had a dyno not long ago, showing the differences, i think stage 3 made more midrange, but stage 5 was more up top.
depends which housing you want also, either the S or the E. the E will spool sooner..
hope i helped a little.

Both the SC61 and SC63 come in T3 turbine sizes. The SC61 is available also as a straight T04 turbo. On the T3 only .48 and .63 A/R housings are available. On the T4 then .58, .68 and .81 A/R are available. I am sure pretty sure Precision could do or will do or already make the SC63 as a straight T4 turbo. The SC63 is a big shaft turbo also . Specs are
SC63 specs inducer=2.476" major=3.310"
SC61 specs inducer=2.416" major=3.227"
_______
In T3 they are available with 76 trim T350 wheels aka Stage V and also the 69 trim T31? (Art?) Hope this helps. OH yeah from what Precision Rod told me the SC61 flows 68lbs/min and the SC63 69lbs/min. SC61 rated for 680hp crank and SC63 rated 700hp crank.
The SC61 comes standard with a T04E housing with a T04S option adn SC63 is standard with T04E housing and possibly the T04S also.

Re: reading posts, now confused - SC61 & SC63 - need specs and advice (Boostfed)
the sc63 I used to run on my street car had a 30 degree clipped p trim wheel. it was not a stage 5 on my car. by the way if you have some ***** they could even put a gtq wheel on the sc63 which is what i am thinking of doing for my next turbo. i have seen the sc63 make 710whp.the sc61 may also make that but i havent seen anyone push it yet. ithe sc63 is big shaft which gives it some more lag but less shaft play.

if you decide to get the SC61, definitely go with the T04S housing.
i think it'll be perfect!

there were no significant gains other than more lag with the t04s from what i was told.

Re: reading posts, now confused - SC61 & SC63 - need specs and advice (G"UNIT)
Thats a very broad question. It all depends on the setup ya know! The SC61 is known to fully spool around 5500+ maybe lower with a bigger displacement. The SC63 i really dont know... maybe add a couple 100 rpms. thats all i know. ive seen full boost with the SC61 by 5000k. thats with a 85.5mm bore and everything else wide open.

What is the size of the outlet on the turbine? Please say 2.5 or less. The reason why i ask is because i want to run a 2.5 DP. If the oulet is lets say 2.6, and i run the 2.5 how much resistance will that cause? thanks.
