Re: My B18A1 turbo project
Just hooked up the turbo onto my ls vtec. Its my stock bottomm end with that b16 head. Turbo sounded really nice with a open downpipe but was too loud for me. Now its quiet and i can hear the bov. Driving it untuned for the time being. Im going to put back together my built bottom end, swap it in, then tune it. Im thinking e85. Heres some crappy pics from my phone:

your prob gonna regret going e85 cause the closest place that sells it is aurora and you use about 1/3rd more fuel. if your worried about being knock limited (which you prob wont) then get a nice meth injection kit. Im gonna put one on my car and up the boost with bigger injectors and hope to get kicked out this year

Re: My B18A1 turbo project
PIcked up a twenty dollar carbon fiber hood from craigslist and all it needed was some love. Painted silver before. I wet sanded it all off:
almost done:
done besides the final touches:
and the wideband I borrowed from the rx7:
Cant wait to hook up the wideband so I can get that other engine in and tuned.

those turbo's are actually pretty good for what they are, Iv seen a z6 put down 280/245tq with one on about 14lbs. and it spooled hella quick

Re: My B18A1 turbo project
yeah they are 60 trims on a 4 cylinder so its basically made for it. I thought the 60 trim would spool hella late but it spools fast (from what I can spool). And might I add that this turbo has a bunch of shaft play [because I ****ed with it ] but it will still not smoke driving of anything. the only time it smokes is when I come up hard on a stop or when I start it up in the morning and its not warm. I need to get it rebuilt....speaking of which time to post on the oregon thread lol

Re: My B18A1 turbo project
Well when I spun my number two bearing after four hundred miles, it really changed my look on building engines. Before I was willing to drink brews before building an engine and was not scared at all, but now I set out to build a engine sober lol.
First, lets start out with my new up dated parts list for my little pink eg/ek:
*B18A1 Block bored .5mm over and honed by Davis Machine shop.
*Fully balanced GSR crankshaft by IMI racing, Ground 10 under and micropolished by Hatch performance engine machine shop.
*Eagle H-beam GSR connecting rods cut and resized, microplished, blanced, and checked for straightness by Hatch performance engine machine shop.
*Clevite bearings (oversized rods, regular mains and thrust).
*CP Low Comp pistons 9:1:2
*B16 head
*ARP B16 headstuds
*GSR cams
*Greddy 18g turbo (currently at davis with a broken stud in the oil return)
*Turbonectics 38mm wastergate
*cast mani with a T4 to Td05 adapter
*Blitz dual turbo timer
*AEM UEGO wideband
*2.5 downpipe into the same size pipe with no muffler
*LS tranny
*Clutchmasters stage 3 6-puck sprung
*stock flywheel micropolished
*RC750’s with walbro 255
*Moroso oil pan.
*GM 3-bar map sensor
*Running Crome cuz the hondata blew up :l
So today I started out with the old ugly spun bearing crankshaft in the block:
I talked to my machinist about building the engine and he said to use my waterpick from my braces (basically a small water sprayer) to spray down the parts with water then to spray them down with air, so that’s what I did, then wiped them down even more with a lint free cloth. After 5 hours of cleaning the block was clean and the caps were too (old bearings with them):
I then moved onto the rotating assembly. I then moved onto the culprit in the last engine failure and took my time cleaning.
BEFORE:
After the two hours of cleaning it was time to install the crank:
Phew…now time for a beer….wait…nevermind, time for the rods. Extensive cleaning went into the rods and making sure the backsides of the bearings were dry and not oily. Then I lubed it up and install 2 & 3 rods and called it a night. :
block all together and painted:
the new beast:

USMC Camo doors, army camo shift cloth
Removeable wheel, blitz DD turbo timer, Carbon/ Kevlar cluster surround
Aluminum LCA's, Neuspeed lower tie bar, rear GSR disc, GSR sway bar, and the almighty teletubbie

Re: My B18A1 turbo project
Well my car is blowing fuses since I went to the gas station. The back up fuse. So now time to re do the wire tuck. I'm going to be looking for a shorter route for all the wires and deleting wires that aren't needed. Hopefully it turns out well.

Re: My B18A1 turbo project
Yessirrr, I went to high school with Ramsey. Yeah I was thinking about the chrome. This post was before I found out I still owe the hospital money, so now Im going the less expensive route. I will look into rrev, I believe they are up in washington. I have a P06 in my car right now, and was thinking about chipping that. I cant find a regular obd1 LS ecu (P74 or 75) so I can just get the motor in my car then chip that ecu....
why not look into V.I.P performance bro.

Car was tuned at forged. The setup is way different now. Rocking a precision t3/t67. I'll post updated pics tonight.

*Aftermarket 70mm throttle body.
*innovative wideband
*3" straight exhaust off of turbo
*quaife lsd

Turbo is making the power but have to get tuned onced again. Street tuning for the new intake manifold but Im not the fastest tuner..... . Will post numbers and pictures soon!
